1999 cadillac starter

Unless these starters are rebuilt by AC Delco, Bosch, or other major player rebuilders they are likely very poor quality rebuilds. It sounds like the problem you have may be the starter solenoid contacts are burnt. When they rebuild the starter at the cheap shops they only replace what is showing up as defective, so not all worn parts are replaced. As a professional tech for over 35 years and a ASE Master technician I only use OEM rebuilds, never Autozone or other so called discount auto parts stores rebuilds. If you want to order from a site that has quality rebuilds at cheap rebuild prices go to the website at the link below.. I have seen people who bought 4 starters to get one good one, same goes for Alternators

Where is the serial number found on a 1999 cabrio distributor?

There was only one distributor number used by VW for all 1999 Cabrios (US market), all references below are for US models only. (for Canadian market there were some different ones). The VW part number is 037 905 205 T, these were made by Bosch. Bosch did possibly supply a some different numbers to VW (Bosch number 0 235 520 066 replaced by 0 235 520 065) but both had the same VW part number and used the same repair parts. There is no serial number for the distributors, just part numbers. The original distributor will have the VW number as well as one of the Bosch part numbers stamped into the body of the distributor. The distributors rarely had to be replaced, as most parts to repair them are available. The ignition hall unit (sensor) is replaceable in the 037 905 205 T distributor. I am a independent parts distributor for VW and Audi vehicles and also a Bosch warehouse distributor. I have the hall unit in stock for this distributor, mail order price is $121.70 + shipping (and + sales tax if shipped within Alabama). I can also install the hall unit in your distributor (if needed) if you send me your original distributor. To replace the hall unit the distributor has to be disassembled and if done improperly the distributor can be made unusable. Call me or Email me if you need more information. 1888VWPARTS vwparts@bellsouth.net

1996 land rover not clicking wont trn over

The problem is causes by the heavy copper contacts inside the starter solenoid being burnt from wear and arching. Replace the starter solenoid or if the truck has high mileage replace the whole starter as the starter solenoid is part of the starter. Use a quality rebuilt, avoid using cheaper discount parts store no name rebuilds, yes they are cheaper but the quality is poor. Factory rebuilds are the best as well as brands like BOSCH, AC Delco and A1 Cardone. You can save on the parts for this car at my favorite personnel parts site, it is the best I've found for quality and price. Go to www.rockauto.com

'99 911 with an aftermarket radio, the alarm tends to go off randomly when it is locked when a neighbor pulls in next to it or locks their car. The dealer said the problem is the radio and it needs to be...

This is common with Porsche, VW and Audi. The radio IS part of the anti theft system and part of its ground circuitry. The best thing to do is to replace the radio with the stock unit OR, find someone with Porsche experience to which they will be able to wire it accordingly to match the factory wiring. Not everyone can do this. Is it equipped with an aftermarket alarm system too? If so, have it removed.

I have a porsche 1999 911 carrera that will not start after it gets hot, and after it cools down it starts like nothing its wrong with it, any idea what could be happening???

Being that Porsche is part of the VW family, I'm going to say it's probably at least partially due to a bad coolant temp sensor. My Audi (again, part of the VW family) has had it fail in the past, and I know that the CTS is the root of many evils on these cars - when it goes bad, all kinds of screwy things happen. I'd start with that. On my Audi, it's a $20 part. For a Porsche, it'll be more, but it should still be pretty inexpensive.
