I have a 2001 olds alero, the drives side window will not roll up or down maybe off track, it's rolled down and we need to get the panel off to fix it how do we get the panel off?

A few screws and a lot of plastic pins around the lower perimeter of the panel are usually what holds the inner panels on. First remove all the hidden screws, then slip a stiff putty knife or fairly wide flat-blade screwdriver behid the panel at the bottom to start popping the plastic pins out. Once loose, just lift out from the bottom and up to remove the panel from the window channel. Simple and frustrating at the same time. Remember how it came apart for ease of re-assembly. Don't forget the electrical connectors, like I just did. Also, the driver's window is the most used in a car, so likely the first to wear out. Good luck.

There could be pressure on the window making the motor push the window up slowly. Has it ever been wrecked?

You will have to remove the button cover with a flat tool such as a screw driver, and use alcohol with a cotton swab to clean the electrical contacts.

The driver's side power window on my 2001 C 320 Mercedes fails to operate on occasion. Is a complete switch replacement necessary or is there a wire loose? Is it a DIY project?

the way to do it is take the switch out and swop it with passager side then if passager side stops working you no the switch has gone and you need to buy new switch. if not you would have to check window motor in door

Check the switch first. Possibly corroded and sticking. May need to be replaced, but you could probably clean it with some electrical contact cleaner.

Passenger side window dont go fully up

Hi.
Sounds like the "anti-pinch" mechanism is coming into action on the drivers side.
If the window encounters any resistance when closing it will stop.
Check the window seal for damage and correct fitment, make sure there is nothing obstructing the glass. If you are OK with the seal and channels at either side and the window is going up an down "square", try some lubricant in the channels either side with the window in the down position and operate a few times.

Passenger side. The motor for the window must have been disconnected from battery voltage at some time and it has lost its reference points. That is, where to start and stop.
Nudge the window near to the top, but not closed, then close the window holding the switch down for at least 5 seconds. Then open the window and hold the switch down as before.
You may have to do this more than once.

There should be a section in your owners manual covering this procedure.

I don't think the two problems are connected physically.

Passenger window doesn't go up, it only goes down.

Unfortunately, this is a hit or miss problem with your generation of Taurus window motors. I am assuming it is Power windows. If it is not Power windows it could have come of track and/or hit a snag. To get a better look you will need to remove the door panel by the screws in the door handle,etc.. and clips around the frame of the door panel. Once removed, there will be a a few places to see what is actually happening when you try to roll the window up.. If it is power windows the true work is rolling UP the window,as gravity is what rolls it down. If you SEE the motor spinning but the window is stationary, you have a snag. If it isnt spinning you can get a new motor from a dealer or even a junkyard. If it is Manual windows.. You SHOULD HOPEFULLY see where and how the window is catching and not rolling up.. hope this helps and good luck!
