Should be on top of the enginge, towards the radiator. If you find it try tapping on it lightly...might be stuck. New thermo should cost around $10.

Thermastat location and replacement

It could be located near the water jacket at the intake manifold or possibly close to the water pump. Also it may be a separate housing where the return hose from the radiator meets the engine block.

Car is full of coolant but car overheats

hi there
the car can be completely full of coolant but if the thermastat is not opening then it will cause it to overheat the thermastat is what allows the coolant to enter and cool the vehicle however if it doesnt then it will over heat you can get a new one at any autoparts store or you can take it to your local mechanic to have this repaired have a wonderful day

Where is the thermostat located the car is not heating might need a thermastat

Don't follow the top radiator hose, if anyone tells you that, they are wrong. follow the lower radiator hose back to the engine block. behind that cap that holds the hose in place, thats where your thermosat is located. trust me, I know its different. its just 2 bolts that hold the cap in place, just don't overtighten them, the cap will crack, and that causes a leak. hope this helps, please rate helpful or not

these are somethings that maybe causing it to over heat (1) not enough cooling in it.(2) water pump drivebelt (3) Radiator core blocked (4) Bad thermostat (5) fan blades broken or cracked (6)Radiator cap need to be replace (7) Ignition timing incorrect if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair Manual for your car wish you the best of luck Michigan Man

Heating and over heating

if you smelled rad fluid then chances are you have a leak, you didnt say if you had to top it up at all, low fluid level will cause loss of heat, and the overheat prob sounds like thermastat replacement time, i would start with the thermastat
