Question about 1986 Dodge W150
On my 1982 Dodge W150 truck (6 cyl.)there is mounted on the driver's side wheel well behind the battery a 30 amp fuse. One side of the fuse is wired to the positive terminal of the battery.
The other side of the fuse goes to what??. That wire is currently broken and I don't know the location where it terminates. The truck is not currently charging although bot the alternator and regulator are good. If the positive cable is removed from the battery while the engine is running it dies. Voltage across the battery terminals while running is approx. 12.6
It's a fuse link that is designed to blow if there is a short in the charging system. The cable runs from the battery to the alternator output and keeps the battery charged. With the engine running the output sends voltage back to the battery.
