2000 Impala leaks coolant out hose in firewall

It sounds like you're looking at the heater core water lines. These connect to the heater core supply and return inlet and outlet pipes to bring hot coolant into the cabin for heat and windshield deicing.

The heater core is a mini radiator and operates on the exact same principles as the radiator does. The heater core is located behind the dash board on the passenger side. Look for a wet spot of antifreeze on the passenger side floor area - close to the firewall for an indication of a leaky heater core. If it is leaking, it will likely need to be replaced. This can be a pricey repair.

Good luck!

That should be the hose and pipes that feed or return coolant from the heater core thru the firewall.

Coolant leak in VW Golf mark 5 1.9 TDi auto DSG

There is, however, an air outlet into the driver's foot area. If the heater core is leaking, the air coming through the heater core will carry the droplets into the entire air ducting system. The driver's foot area may be the closest outlet. If it smells like coolant, you need to replace the heater core regardless of where in the cabin the coolant is coming out.

Low coolant light and slight coolant leak was noticed a few weeks ago, seems to be coming from the block that is facing the firewall. Haven't performed a pressure check as of yet.

A pressure test will pin point the leak. But make sure it isn't the lower intake gasket. Pretty common area for coolent leaks on these cars.

Coolant is leaking out

It's a heater core line. It bolts to the back of the engine and goes into the firewall to the heater core. You have a leak in that hose. Could just be a loose clamp. Don't forget to vote on helpfullness.

Your leak could be a clogged a/c drain tube.
Does this happen with a/c on or defroster?
