May be a bad starter again.I would also try wiggling the harness that goes to the starter and see if it starts. There is a tsb for a similiar condition may not apply to manual transmissions. There is a sensor that goes bad on the transmission that the starter wires run to.If you wiggle these wires and it starts then more then likely the pigtail and sensor need replaced

Pull your computer control module and inspect where all the wires come in. You may have a broken wire(burned off) so it spurratically works, but will eventually quit completely.

Check alternator output at the alt and at battery also put a test light on the starter solenoid at the little wire on solenoid see if it lights up when turn key ? possible positive or negative cables have good ohm checks but not carrying enough current ?

New Battery/starter and still wont crank.

car wont crank or car wont start? I would say your battery cables are bad,, acid gets in from battery and erodes internal cable parts... need a Meter to check it out.. put the meter on battery while someone tries to start it, if the voltage drops from 13.5 to 10 then it is trying to turn over, I always have the new starters tester before I leave a store, they are remanufactured in Malaysa and they use old parts in most of them..

If it has a ton of relays like almost all cards do today check them first. Start relay and ASD (Auto Shutdown Relay). If they are bad the car won't start.

What is the correct amperage to ignition switch on 88 gmc k1500

Do you have 12 volts at the large post and at the small wire coming from the key switch when the starter will not turn ?
There is a neutral safety switch in the circuit that could have failed.

Replaced starter and sylinoid in my 1989 f250 still wont start

If the old solenoid had a bad short it may have put your new starter out of commission. Have the starter tested-it should still have warranty for repllacement.

Replaced the starter as the car was not turning over. The old starter tested good but still replaced. Ran fine after installation. Sitting overnight, not starting once again this morning. Turns but...

I would be looking for the following: If it'an automatic, while it is acting up put it in neutral and see if the starter works? If so, either poor connections to or bad neutral safety switch.

This car also uses a starter relay. According to my data base, it is located foreward of the right front shock tower and the second one in from the engine side.

Check for solid grounds from the battery to the engine. Corroded connections will peform worse when they are cold, sometimes, even causing an open circuit.

I hope this has pointed you somewhere in the direction you need to be looking

For about 2 weeks my car has been hard to start now it wont start it acts like the starter is not engaging to turn motor over when you try to start it it makes a whinning spinning noise we took starter off...

sounds like the battery wire to the starter is possibly the culprit, it may have a bad spot in it not allowing enough voltage to the starter. also depending on the brand solenoid you purchased it is possible to get a bad one. i recommend borg warner electrical products. i hope this helps.

Wont start. everything comes on, but no start. Not ignition switch, starter, alternator, or battery. Starter was removed and tested. When it was put back in car started, ran for about 10 days, then stopped...

make sure you check all you relays and i would suggest replacing the starter anyways cause it could be acting up.i had the same problem and a new starter fixed it.

When its hooked up, you should be able to put 12 volts on the little stud on the solenoid and it should start. One large stud will have 12 volts on it, so just jump it right there. Did you get the wires in the right place. The solenoid should have 1 large wire going down to the starter. Be sure the battery cables are clean and tight ( both ends) Check battery voltage when cranking, should go to 10-11 volts. Check voltage between negative terminal on battery and engine, should be ZERO when cranking. The solenoid has 2 large studs, make sure the battery positive wire and all the other wires are hooked to this stud, the other large stud should just have the wire going to the starter.

actually the only thing i can recomend is to have the alternator replace again for warranty and before starting the truck charge the batteries very well with a baterie charger make sure to charge them individually because with a low batterie the alternator has to put a lot of load and might burnt again
specially with dual batterie.
