Question about 1997 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

I have a vw polo 1.4 16v afh. It runs fine on driving but idles rough. It is fine when started cold but as it starts to warm up then it starts to become rough going from 500-900rmp but doesnt stall. As soon as rev up its fine for a sec then starts again. It has had the tb cleaned a new lambda sensor fitted, checked for air leaks. The engine was taken out and refitted due to cam belt breaking. New valves were fitted. now i been told it could be the ECT because it is running very rich or ive been told it may be the TB that needs re alignment. so many different things that i dont know but costing me a fortune any idea?

Try to unplug the mass airflow sensor and start it. It will idle higher but should run fine. If it works then you need a MAF sensor. Be sure you have an OBDII code puller to clear the computer when done
