I've spoken to several mechanics on my Explorer. I lost oil pressure and drove it home from work around 30 miles, it started knocking really bad. I had just changed the oil, they are stating I wou

Yes, I agree. Overhaul, or new engine time. Loud knocking indicates your crankshaft bearings are toast-it won't be long before a piston rod goes through the block, or the engine siezes up. Overhauling an engine with a bad knocking means a complete teardown and rebuild-very time-consuming, labor intensive, and very, very expensive. You might want to consider a used replacement engine with low miles as a cheaper alternative. Good luck.

Changed spark plugs and one old one covered with oil. What is the problem?

If you notice smoke when you first start the engine, it may be that the rings are worn,or the valve guides in the heads are worn, and the valve seals may have failed. Also the oil may be cavitating in the valve covers, and not running down to the pan, as the engine is running. The oil drain holes may be plugged up from sludge! And the pcv valve may be plugged! Verry high mileage, not enough oil changes?

Oil around spark plug and car mis fires

The oil around the plug may be a sign that the valve-cover needs a new gasket. Oil on the plugs can cause a misfire but it is important that you check everything over. The misfire could be due to defective wires, boots, coils, spark-plug/s, injector/s, and so much more. Take a look at the cars maintenance history, Maybe it is over due for a complete tune-up or oil change. The car is 11years old, how many miles are on it? How was it running before this?

Oil where spark plug coil is

you have a bad valve cover gasket/ spark plug o-ring i assume the plug is set in the head with valve cover above it since there is oil in the cover gaskets and o rings are used to seal in oil remove and replace gaskets be sure to find the right torque spec for the cover bolts also remember to start with the center bolts and work your way evenly to the outside

Oil around spark plugs on 1992 honda accord

Yes the oil can cause the car to lose spark, the oil leak could be caused by the valve cover gaskets around the spark openings, but 9 times out of 10 it is the spark plug tube "O" rings. The top of the valve train comes off of the head, the "O" rings are between the two halves, that will fix the oil leak.

Oil in spark plug wells I just found out that I also have oil in one of my spark plug wells and need to know if this is a major fix?

not really the valve cover needs replaced get a valve cover gasket kit it will come with the gaskets that cover the spark plugs .if you let it go after a while it will contaminate or spark plugs wires and cause a misfire or your car will start missing.please rate this answer thanks.

Car wont start

these cars go through coil packs regularly as the packs overheat due to their position on the end of the engine. I have 3 lanos and have replaced all coil packs at around 90,000 k's.
Hope this helps.
