Question about 2004 Jeep Wrangler

The engine shuts down while driving

The engine seems to shut down in the same places whenever I am driving around town. Is it possible that my sentry key system is picking up electronic signals. If I shake the vehicle vigorously it will start again

Could be its a posibility that this could cause some interference ,but i would be inclined to pull the fuel tank sender unit that also holds the pump and check the electrical connections and the pipes to teh pump also the gauze filter on the bottom of the pump if clagged up then drain the tank and try to wipe it out through the sender unit hole to get the dirt and stuff out ,it is possible to this quite easly

But why would it only shut down in the same locations and not do it in a variety of places?

right see the problem now only selected areas ?? well try shrouding the ECU with kitchen tin foil and if that doesnt work then some lead sheeting maybe ,perhaps your vehicle just doesnt like the area ?? aliens are coming ?? no i think if you are right about the interference then shielding the ECU is the only answer

Why would it slip out of gear when driving around town

There are LOTS of things that can cause that. Of coarse, the things that can possibly cause that are directly related to what YEAR, MAKE, MODEL. ENGINE SIZE and TRANSMISSION TYPE we are talking about.

2001 gmc safari stalls when comming off the exit ramp on highway, around town it is fine. replaced mas air flow sensor and iac sensor. still stalling

car shuts off when driving for a while, this could be a bad crank sensor. but the sensor should set a problem code, have car scanned. if you do not have a scanner, any auto parts place will scan for free.if car shuts off when driving down road then a bad crank sensor will cause this. good luck toolman,

I put a new battery in my 91 lincoln town car and when I am going down the road and turn it wants to shut the engine off.

foolow the instructions below, u have lost the idle learn, clean the ntake and then drive for a week or so. this will fix the problem.
Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
