Question about 2000 Cadillac Catera
Note: Oil Filter in 1999 up models comes inside the canister as you can see, you twist the cap to take it out, the cap holds the paper filter, then to take out the canister , you have to use a rachet with a die(i dont remember size) but its less than inch..then pull out . Dorman offers a part , but caution,,, this part does not fit the catera, you have to look for Heng brand oil filter canister,, since Dorman offers one that is similar, but does not fit in place

It's in two parts. You have to hold one while you separate the two sections exposing the cartridge filter. You have backed off the base and that's where the oil is probably coming from.
