Question about 1990 Mazda RX-7

1 Answer

When replacing a computer in a 1990 RX7, does it need to be programmed? We have had this car for three months now, and 3 motors. We finally had a mechanic come and diagnose it. Apparently the fuel injectors were not firing(working?) and they are controlled by the computer. Before replacing the computer, it only turned over, but did not crank. Now it cranks and dies immediately. I've had different peoples opinion and they were thinking fuel pump but I called the mechanic and he acted very confident and said all it would take is for the computer to be programmed, by doing the following in either a 30 min or hour process: hook the battery charger up to the battery, in EXACTLY 10 min intervals "click the starter" but do not crank it. On the fourth try, it should crank. I did both, the 30 and the hour process, unplugging the battery charger and starting over. Does it need to be programmed or does it sound like anything else.

Having the computer reflashed probably wouldn't hurt. Your local dealer should be able to do this for about $80

Replace blower motor 1990 camry

I've changed 3. Two in Camry's and one in an Accord. You HAVE to remove the glovebox and everything that goes behind it. the Unit is huge. Also the carpet will come into play as you are in the final stage. Don't forget about the bolts in the dashboard. You have to open the passenger door to see it or them. Sometimes they are behind an air vent to.

This may not be a fuse. Sometimes the motor in the window dies and needs to be replaced. If you think it is the fuse, check a mazda forum for the fuse panel diagram.

90 rx7 turns over but will not start

it could be many things, no fire or no fuel, replaceing your spark plugs is most likely the leats expensive thing to do and if that doesnt work then there is most likley a problem with the fuel either too much or not enough. rx7s are notorious for flooding and it doesnt take much.
