Question about Lamborghini Murcielago

4 Answers

Hello. I put my 2006 lamborghini murcielago in the garage last weekend working perfectly. I turned the master power switch to off as I knew I would be away al week. This morning I got in for a ride and it does not start. I thought maybe the battery was weak so I charged it but stil nothing. Is there some kind of master reset? I seem to remember being told about something like this when I bought the car.

additional input would be greatly appreciated

  • pandegames May 31, 2010

anyone know Lamborghinis well enough to take a stab at this one?

  • pandegames May 31, 2010

I wasn't looking to perform any majot repairs, just wondering if there is a reset procedure that I can try. Again, anyone who actually knows anything about lamborghinis out there?

Disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes, then reconnect and try to start. When someone is turning the key to the 'start' position, do you have 12v at the solonoid? If yes, then the solonoid is bad. If no, then the problem is between the ignition and starter. (If you REALLY want to get it started you could always bridge the two large posts on the starter with a wrench while the key is 'on')

If the solonoid is stuck, you could try the old 'bang on starter with hammer' trick.

When you first turn the key on, so you hear the fuel pump cycle? Does you car have some fancy alarm that may have a starter kill?

Yes I do believe that the alarm system does have a starter kill but when I press the alarm off button on key fob I am getting the proper audio indication that the alram has been disabled. Is there some sort of reset that you know of that I can try?

    Thanks in advance

Its possible that you need removed the spark plugs and checked them all and look to replace them anyways; also
checked the coils and all seemed to work properly also can will the fuel pressure
checked and if out the correct psi. Any fuse blow there?

  • pandegames May 31, 2010

perhaps I did not describe the symptom well enough. It does not try to turn over. It does nothing at all upon turning the key so spark and fuel are not the things to be considering.

What I think I need is someone who is specifically knowledgeable regarding Lamborghinis. Do you know of anyone who fits this bill?

Thanks anyway, I appeciate the effort

Hi! Try to put the key on ON position for 12 secs. but dont crank it. Turn off the ignition again. Put the key in again and put it on ON position, wait for 12secs before starting. This can do the trick. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Thank you for the attempt. I tried this but unfortunately it did not work. I guess I will have to get Lamborghini to come get the car. The closest one is two hours away.

    Thanks again for trying.

Now iam not sure here but if you have no ignition lights or any electrics at all then i would be inclined to try to bypass the battery isolater switch first to see if that makes any difference ,then if still nothing i would check the earth on the battery ,if that appears ok then i would put a test light across the battery to make sure something is lighting up ,if i got some sort of life then i would remove the battery terminals and clean and grease them to see what happens .Not sure what you mean by master reset but the one i service for a customer has a switch to make the exhaust noisey and his neighbours asked me to disconnect the switch which i told him about and now he doesnt use it in the street.I have a funny feeling the battery cut off switch could have corroded terminals inside the switch which is causing your problem as stated try bridgeing it with a screwdriver to see what happens first

Thanks for you input. I have all dash lights and indicators and car seems to be making all of the ordinary sounds when unlocking and getting in it. When I turn the key though, nothing happens.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks

no i think the alarm has cut in ,you didnt state weither you had power or no power so i assumed quite wrongly that you had a connection problem.Right try this old trick it might work but knowing mierans obstropolous lamborg you could try this for nothing but here goes ,lock the drivers door then unlock 3 times slowly counting 10 between each session then on the third unlock jump in and start car within 15 seconds ,it may work as it often does on renaults and few other cars as well ,now the factory alarm will also shut off the spartk and the fuel so running a wire to the starter solonoid direct will not start the vehicle .the alarm system has disconnected the earth to all the components by means of a switching transistor inside the ECU unit ,.most of the electrics on this vehicle are fiat orientated being magnet marelli so if iam not mistaken a good hand held computer with the right software should be able hold back the alarm and by pass it so it can be driven back to the dealer.Dont be scared of the name on the badge of a vehicle they are all owned by big players and use the same software as their stable mates and many of the parts as well ,ie jaguar S type with ford on the switches ,bentley with VW parts ,at the end of the day its just a car like any other with the same faults -they wear out and go wrong

I am only going to recommend you calling either your local dealership or certified lambo mechanic. With how expensive this car is I wouldn't be looking for cheap help or advice. Also wouldn't want you doing more damage to the vehicle then may already be done.
Thank you,
Lee

I didn't say anything about major repairs. You want the reset procedures call your Lamborghini dealer. These are very complicated cars and not meant to be tinkered with. If your gonna accept a solution from someone who is just looking to make a few bucks go for it. I on the other hand have enough integrity I'm not gonna start recommending things on that expensive of a vehicle. Take care of it the right way.
    Thanks,
    Lee

If you dont have anything productive to contribute, why are you even chiming in. You must get paid per response no matter how useless it is.

    Lee A. May 31, 2010

actually we don't. We only get paid when you accept a solution, with that expensive of car why would you look for a 15$ solution? Go pay the money it takes to get your lambo fixed. and I gave you a credible solution. Call your lambo dealer. Do you need someone to do that for you?
    Good luck,
    Lee

  • pandegames May 31, 2010

it's not a matter of trying to save money. I wanted to go for a ride and if there was a simple procedure I could attempt that might rectify the problem I would have been pleased.

"go ask someone else" is not a credible solution. Have a nice day

Well you have to be certified for Lamborghini in case you didn't know so the only "credible" solution would be to call a dealership/lambo repair shop. The correct answer isn't always going to be the most popular. If it's not about saving money then you should call them immediately and if there is reset procedures available they can give them to you as they are the ones qualified to do so. I would be quite surprised if we have a lambo mechanic on here. I would assume they are busy already fixing lambo's not on fixya.
    Thanks,
    Lee

While driving and the car is on - the airbag light goes on in 2003 lamborghini murcielago

This has to do with the air bag system and its components. The which has come on the facia indicates that the module has detected an issue that is present every time you turn the key on and it performs its self checks. This needs to be scanned by Lamborghini to direct you in the proper course of repair. These can be dangerous systems to repair if you are not careful. One thing to consider as well, if the light is on, the system has been disabled, air bags and saftey restraints.
