Question about 2006 Volvo S40

1 Answer

I can not find the cabin air filter in my 2006 volvo s40. Where is it located? Is it worth having a mechanic replace it or can it be done myself. I am pretty handy with american made cars, but this is my first (and maybe my last) with a foreign car.

Person at Volvo told me it is localted under the glove box - for a right hand drive car. He said a control unit must also be unscrewed to get to it. I will be changing mine soon - by myself. Cannot be that difficult to do. Not sure about a LHD car.

Wheres the air filter located under my S40 hood?

Welcome to Fixya

The air filter is located at the top front of the radiator housing on the left side and secured by 2 screws. Undo the screws and pull up the black housing. The air filter is inside the housing.

Thank you for using Fixya!

How to replace cabin air filter of Volvo s40 07 model?

This is really difficult... A friend of mine tried to fix this and it took over an hour. Anyway this is how he did it.. First take off the panel from behind the radio. (3x T25 screws) Then remove the big panel under the steering wheel.

Then you'll need to remove the accelerator/gas pedal. To do this remove the
3 x 10mm bolts underneath and the 2 on top. When there unbolted remove the gas pedal.
Drag the carpet back that's directly under the steering wheel to show the black cover panel with 4x 7mm screws that underneath. Take those screws out and the cabin air filter will be underneath. Replace filter and put everything back together EXACTLY how you dismembered it =)

Hi, I was just wondering if you could let me know where the pollen filter is located in a Volvo S40 2006 1.8 petrol and the process of how to replace it?? Thanks

The air filter is in a black plastic holder with 4 latches attached to a big black corrugated plastic pipe with a funny looking silver box attached to it. Unsnap the latches, lift off the top cover, and remove the air filter cartridge. Hold the cartridge up to sunlight---can you see the sun through it? If not--replace it (bring the thing with you to the car parts store to get the right replacement. Hope that helps you. Replace in reverse procedure. :)
