No, your going to have to fix the problem. most likley the key tumbler failed. Get the code to begin with. It will most likely say key not reconized.

I installed a new steering column in my 2004 Pontiac sunfire and now it will not start. It tries then I beta back fire.

Anti-theft system isn't allowing it too .
The Passlock™ System is provided in order to prevent vehicle theft if the ignition lock cylinder is forced to rotate or the ignition switch is operated while separated from the ignition lock cylinder case. If starting is attempted without authorization from the Passlock™ System, the powertrain control module (PCM) will disable engine starting. Start disable may be in the form of fuel disable or starter disable, depending on engine application.
The components of the Passlock™ System are as follows:
• The ignition lock cylinder and key
• The ignition lock cylinder case, including the Passlock™ sensor
• The ignition switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The security indicator on the instrument cluster
• The powertrain control module (PCM)

The car im talking about is agrand am se 2000 v-6 3.4 motor, fuelpump comes on and it cranks up ,but want stay running, what could it be ?

Anti-theft system , is the security light lit on the instrument cluster ?

The vehicle theft deterrent system is designed in order to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the fuel injectors unless the lock cylinder is correctly engaged by a mechanical key. The theft deterrent system uses the following 4 components for theft prevention:
• The lock cylinder
• The ignition switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
When starting the engine, the PCM searches for a password from the BCM through the Class 2 serial data circuit. If the password is not recognized or not present, the PCM will disable the engine. Two modes of tamper detection are provided:
No password received
The engine will start and stall quickly. SECURITY telltale will flash on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and then stay ON steady.
Incorrect or disable password received (More than 3 invalid passwords are received)
The engine is disabled for at least 10 minutes and the SECURITY telltale will illuminate solid on the IPC during the 10 minutes.
After the vehicle has passed theft detection, the PCM will continue normal operation.
Auto Learn
Time required, approximately 10 minutes.
Insure that the battery is fully charged.
Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the CRANK position attempting to start the vehicle. The vehicle will start and then stall.
Leave the ignition switch in the ON position while observing the security indicator.
When the security indicator turns off, which can take up to 10 minutes, turn the ignition switch off. Wait 10 seconds.
The BCM and the PCM will learn the new code on the next start attempt.

02 olds alero no start system shut down

Where did you try to by-pass at , with the 2000 ohm resistor ? Is the SECURITY light lit on the instrument cluster ? Probably has another problem other then the key . The anti-theft system in your vehicle can not be by-passed by using a resistor .

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Before you render it unfixable . (cost to much )

Are you the one who bought the vehicle new ? Replaced ignition switch or the ignition lock cylinder ? No , sorry, but a remote start will not by pass anti-theft system .

I removed my alarm system keystartremove n now want start 98 old cultass 3.1 engine

You can't do that an expect the vehicle to start , software programmed in the computer system . If the engine PCM doesn't see a pass word or coded message from the BCM or anti-theft module . IT will disable starting and or fuel injetor control .
Important: Due to component variability, the vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system must have the learn procedure performed regardless, if the vehicle starts on the first ignition cycle after a VTD repair.
All codes in the theft deterrent module must be cleared for a relearn.

They do sell by pass modules you can find on the internet , in some cases it cheaper to have it fixed proper by a qualified repair shop . It just depends what the original problem was . You how ever just complicated matters by changing thing's .

Whr is my fuel pump reset button on my 2003 grand am? Its security lock, it wont get any fuel. It cranks but wont start. Not getting any fuel. First time ever happening

There is no reset button.
The problem could be the anti-theft system which would knock out the injectors and spark to the plugs.
If the security light is staying on, the problem could be the chip in the key.

Can a hidden security system lock out power to essential electronics(fuel pump) to prevent a car from starting???the car's starter does engage, but is getting no fuel...ty

yes it can and if the battery goes dead or is unhooked it will disable the engine from starting and your model has the security system, call your dealer it's under warranty or should be and then will tell you how to reset it. Hope this helps.

2002 Ford Explorer: Security system prevents car from starting.

Your ignition requires a radio signal from a chip inside your key to start the car . Your car wont start because you are using the wrong key, your ignition is no longer able to read the key (ignition replacement), or your key is malfunctioning.
