you may not need a new head but a head gasket. is there compression in any cylinder? is the timing belt broken? does the car start?

  • scottie_hage May 31, 2010

there is compression but in every clinder is about 20 and 30 psi and yes i put a new timing belt on it and its in time

  • scottie_hage May 31, 2010

all the pistions are all 20 to 30 psi

  • scottie_hage May 31, 2010

all the pistions all have 20 to 30 psi

Your engine is what's known as an interference engine. meaning that if the belt broke the valves will contact the piston causing severe damaged to the valves and possibly the pistons. bent valves are likly the cause of loss of compression. in which case a new head with valves would be the best fix.

No/loss of compression can be from a few different problems blown piston/piston rings[fix rebuild engine and replace piston parts ]camshaft flattened lobe [replace camshaft]valves burnt/bent carbon build up [remove head and repair/replace valves ] valve springs weak/broken[repair or replace ] head itself cracked [replace ]these are some of the reasons that u can loose compression if ur guy did compression test and determined its the head[valves ] then replace head if car is worth fixing then fix it good luck

I need to change the lights on my mazda mx5 first reg july 2005 to left hand as i now live in france?

Buy a new pair of headlights from a French Motor Factor or from your nearest Mazda dealer and just swap them over. Then go to a garage to get the headlight beams correctly adjusted. Voila!

If you want specific instructions, then you'll need diagrams which are not available online for copyright reasons, but Haynes publish the correct manual which you can either buy new or get secondhand from online suppliers like ebay and Amazon.

I have a 2000 Mazda Miata. The head lights work on bright but both go off on dim. I was thinking it maybe a fuse. any help.

Sounds like both dim filaments are broken.
But before you go off and buy a new headlight, try removing the headlight and run a positive lead to each side of the hi and low connectors. Negative is the center pin, like this -_- if dim works with a battery, then you need to replace your dimmer switch. If not, its the headlight itself.

1990 Mazda miata will not start

check that there is a good connection from the earth to body (a lot of electrical problems are earth related) also that the connections on the battery are firm. check that the battery has good voltage.

Car is sputtering at high rpms and have a new turn up on it

Check the gap between the prong and contact of the spark plugs. Your local parts store can look up the gap measurement and should have a gap tool you can buy for really cheap, sounds like that may be the issue.

It should only need little plastic pins and screws. You could get these at Auto Zone or another auto part store near you.
