Question about 2004 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

Hi, After changing my air filter & pvc valve and traveling a short distance my service engine light came on. I read the codes and they are PO171 system to lean bank 1 and PO171 system to lean bank 2. Anyone have an idea what the problem could be? 2004 Chev Blazer Thanks

Most likely if you didn't have it before, what you worked on, you have to recheck your work for a vacuum leak

I have a PO171 Code. I have replaced both O2 sensors and the MAF sensor. I am sill getting the same code . What else could be the problem?

Change your PCV valve and especially the elbow hose that connects it to the engine. It is hard see, it is on the right side of the engine near the water pump you have to use a longer then average needle nose pliers to get it out. the PVC hose tends to get rock hard from the heat and will cracks around the hole. I think if you check YOU TUBE how to change PVC valve, something will come up. good luck.

Ford f150 2003 po171 always lean bank 1. replaced bank 1 o2 sensor smoked intake. replaced egr valve. still code po171 short term trim 0123 but long term trim is up bank 1 30 anb bank 2 is 27. idle is a...

Code Po171 indicates a lean condition on cylinder bank #1 of the engine. This is the drivers side of the engine. I would suggest replacing both front oxygen sensors as a pair to start. An oxygen sensor has a life span of about 5 years and yours are now 9 years old if they are original. When they get older they are slow to respond to changes in the oxygen content of the exhaust and can trigger a code Po171. If you continue to have the same code set after the replacement of both oxygen sensors then it is time to find out why your engine is running lean. Some of the most common causes are an ignition misfire and a vacuum leak. I have also seen Fords EGR flow sensor (known by Ford as Delta Pressure Feedback sensor) to cause problems like that as well. A good mechanic with a scan tool can usually spot a problem like that in a few minutes.

How do I troubleshoot service engine codes for 2002 Ford F-150: PO174 and PO171?

This is the engine lean code. Too much air is entering the engine. Intake manifold gaskets can leak, vacuum lines get old and crack. Check the operation of the EGR and PVC valves, In short it is not easy to find the problem.

sounds like EGR valve and sensor this controls idle speed when at a stop. the po171 is a burn lean or rich code need to know what bank 1 or 2. also check for a vacuum leak from one of the hoses.

The error that I'm showing for error code P1133 is
P1133 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) insufficient switching bank 1 sensor 1(Rear Bank).  I would suggest having both of your Oxygen Sensors replaced if you haven't already had that done.  Hope this helps.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa.
