It's under the dash on the passenger side, remove the panel on the bottom of the dash, and its behind the blower motor. Takes about 20 min to get the job done and the parts can be bought at Auto Zone and there's step by step instructions top get the job done, don't for get the new wire harness also to go with the resistor. There also common to go bad, due to the heat from the current flow makes them brittle.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

The latest GM part number is 89019089 (it was 898018597) and cost $47.46 including tax from the GM dealer. Aftermarket about $20 from parts store.
The resistor is on the passenger side hidden by a formed plastic kick panel which attaches by 3 hex head screws. The size is 8mm and a deep socket is recommended for one screw in a rather annoying location. This one resides in a deep cavity opposite of the tranny hump.
Once the cover is off, the resistor is easy to spot on the right side of the heater/AC box. Has a multiwire connector going in and on the back side two wires out to the blower motor. The screws on 99 and 01 are 7/32" and gold shaded.
To get at the blower motor connection one has to remove the blower motor shield. And of course one of the two screws is in a blind location right next to the firewall. Both screws are again 7/32".

It will be a blower resister module,it should be very close to the blower motor mounted on the blower box, where it can insert into the blower box and keep cool.

Only high speed works on fan motor

This condition is caused by a defective blower motor speed control resistor. The resistor is located right next to the blower motor with the connector end sticking out of the ducting for the AC/Heater system. Very easy to replace and the part is cheap as well.

1996 GMC Sierra Heater blower motor only works on high speed. How do you change resistor?

The blower motor resistor is located within a foot of the blower motor in the duct that the blower motor blows into. The resistor is actually cooled off by the blower motor blowing across it. It has a wire harness that connects it to motor & fan switch. It is held in place by 2-4 retaining screws. Disconnect wire harness, unscrew retaining screws then lift out. Reverse order to install.

How doi locate the resistor for a blower motor on a 1997 gmc sierra 1500

Hi!!
Check under dash, passenger side, if necessary, remove cover to access Blower Housing Assy., the harness has two terminals, one for the Blower Motor and one for the Blower Motor RESISTOR which is fastened by two 7 or 8 mm. screws to the Housing.
Here is a picture of the Blower Housing Assy. showing the Resistor.

I need to locate and replace the High Blower relay on my 2002 GMC Seirra

the high blower relay is part of the blower motor resistor. It is located under the passenger side of the dash near the blower motor. It will have a connector with five or six wires and be held in with 2 screws. I think you will need a 5.5 mm socket (yes its a 5 and 1/2 mm socket)

My 2002 GMC Sierra blower/A/C keeps running even with the engine off. I removed the A/C Fuse and it stops. Do i need to replace the Blower Motor Control Module and if so were is it.

If the Blower is staying on high maximum blow then it is probably the a/c blower relay. The other thing it could be if not on maximum is the blower motor resistor pack. Lastly would be the blower switch shorted to power.

Heater fan blows in position 3,4,5 but not 1 or 2

the blower motor resistor is fried...it is located under the dash, passenger side, costs about 10 bucks and takes 5 mins to install...happened to me, it needs to "resist" or limit the power for lower speeds, that's why it works in 3-5, no resisting needed.

Heater fan on 2002 Yukon does not operate in front, only rear.

The front blower motor is controlled by the blower resistor module. This is usually the problem with the front blower not working.I looked up the schecmatics and I don`t see separate fuses for the front and rear. But the fuse for the front blower is in the under hood fuse block. If this is good then The problem is probably the resistor module. It is next to the blower motor. The connector from the resistor connects to the blower motor. If you want to confirm this you can check for power and ground at the blower motor connector when you activating the blower switch on.This can be done with a test light.Make sure you have power going into the resistor module also.If you have power going in and no power at the blower motor then replace the resistor.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Gmc sierra blower switch

last place to look is the resistor block located in the duct work for the blower (fan). it should have a wiring plug going to it and be held in by a couple screws. look on the passenger side near the fan itself.
