Hi.

Grand Cherokee Jeeps suffer from problems related to PCI (programmable control interface) bus connectected to the PCM (main car computer). If that is the issue, then it cannot be fixed or diagnosed with ordinary tools, but scan is done using a DRBIII (not standard OBDII) reader available at the dealer's place.

Try first disconnecting the battery cable for ten minutes. Ensure you have anti theft code if needed.

Find the nearest dealer and, apart doing a standard OBDII scan, ask a scan for PCI bus problem, that is a common fault. Mention them that the problem may be related to this, the mechanic may not be aware of the common issue .

If that is not the problem, then the problem is a bad contact or a short. This is affecting different sections of your Jeep wiring.

Troubleshooting this kind of problem requires patience. Repair is done following wiring with multimeter reading Volts on wiring.
First check battery ground cable and battery connectors.Start from the underhood fuse box. Check contacts at the back. If the problem started from one single door and central lock, check the wiring behind the door panel.
Each power window has also its own control module that will also affect central locking. If problem started on a single door , then PDM and DDM (the two modules) must be checked.

why is it when i found the broken ground wire in the door jam and fixed that, the other light went on the dash and the speeddometer went. now in the begining the ground wire broke and the windows all went as well all the door pannels. the button that worked was the door lock button on the front passager door. the keyless entra would not lock or unlock the driverside door only. then the battery diead. the car sat for about 3 months. replaced the battery and about 3 months later i fixed the ground and all this other stuff happened. since then i cut the wire i jumper for the broken ground to see if there was a problem there and everything still doesnt work. should i be checking fuses or anything else.

all the gauges work expect the speedomater. and the wippers are having problems. as well as the turn singels

i tried to discont the battery for 10 mins. the abs, break, and engine light are still on. the wippers still dont work. i cut the jumper cable for the driver side control pannel. and nothing changed. all the turn singles work but the front drivers side is burned out. I checked fuses and nothing seems blown. but i only check the ones i can see the middle on. now i did notice that the battery termails are lose and will not get any tighter. i was able to pull them off and on without loseing anything. is there fuse i should look for or wire, connections.

Intermittent lock working, interior light, air conditioner, windows not working

Start with windows. If none work at any switch, check the circuit break. Swap it with another. After that it could be the master switch on the drivers door or a broken wire between the door and body in the rubber boot at the front of the door. Air conditioning. could be low freon, high pressure switch or compressor. Controllers rarely go bad. Check fuses first. Lights. Again fuses first, Then open another door. If the lights come on, Replace the door latch in the drivers door. If not, it could be the dimmer/head light switch, Usually in the dash. Or the BCM or wiring to it is bad. all this takes a volt/ohm meter to check.

F 150 DOOR AJAR WILL NOT GO OFF AND INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON! HOW DO I FIX IT

If only the door ajar light and interior light is not working it is probably the door ajar switch located on the door latch inside the door. sometimes a little WD40 sprayed towards lower side of the latch will work, frees the piston in the switch. if not the switch must be replaced. If also the outside mirror control does not work, the door lock switch also does not work, it is a bad ground to those three systems, the Electric windows have a separate ground wire and still work. You must feed a new black wire from a good ground on the body thru the door accordion tube and connect it to the larger black wire on the plug that goes to the door lock switch. The door lock, the mirror control, the door ajar light, and the interior light problem will be gone.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8. A couple days ago after stoping to get gas I started it up and the interior lights came on and power windows would no longer work. Later I noticed the remote...

I had the same problem recently. The dealership diagnosed the pblm as a corroded wire in the door frame that is responsible for all power windows and power locks locks. A simple rewiring and resoldering (approx. 150 CAD$) fixed the problem.

The interior lights in my 2000 Ford F250 will not turn off. How can I get the lights to turn off?

Just to get the interior lights off to save your battery, you could pull the fuse. Refer to the service manual to determine the proper fuse.

To fix the problem, i would suspect one of the door switches is faulty.

1996 ford probe passenger electric window no longer works.

you blew the fuse for your radio.you cannot put a hot wire to a ground that is why the fuse blew.you could have broken a wire connector for the door, windows etc.the headlight switch wire harness is probably melted this happens a lot on Ford products, the head light draw so much heat they melt the wire harness plug that goes on the back of the headlight switch.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited edition and the drivers door control panel doesnt work at all(power windows, locks, mirrors) The controls on the other doors for the windows dont work either but...

I had same problem it is a ground wire broken in the harness rubber boot between dthe driver door. Peel back the rubber that protects wires and you will find broken ground wire(black) add a piece of wire solder and wrap with electrical tape put rubber boot back into door everything should work.

99 Jeep grand cherokee...interior lights, door locks, pwr windows

The wires that go into the doors has probably broken from opening and closing the doors. They run though a rubber boot where the hinges are. Check all the doors wires. This is a common problem and i have fix many jeeps with these problems.

Driver side door lock

The switch is finding its ground thru the interior light switch. Your problem is most likely a broken wire in side the rubber boot that goes from the door to the body near the door hindges.
