Question about 2005 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

While driving my 2005 pontiac bonneville to work suddenly my traction control light, anti-lock brake light and my emergency brake light all came on at once. At the same time, the lights indicating the air conditioning position went off. The air conditioner works fine and the car seems to run okay. Please help. Schevinrobinson@yahoo.com

it might be a speed sensor. you'll have to get the code from the abs system. find a shop that is able to extract abs codes. i would try an independent station rather than a dealer. as there cost may be cheaper and might give you a brake on the cost of diagnosis if you have the work done there

Need to have a scanner put on vehicle and proceed to diagnose and correct the issues. Can not do that in your driveway

2000 bonneville trac off light and abs light stay on

The ABS light is the Anti Lock Break system light. You may have a malfunction in there. . . Take it to your qualified brake specialist and have him check it out. completely. You may have a leak in the system, the traction control is controlled by the button on the console where you can turn it off and on. If you have tried the button, take it to a car repair service or a ugh dealership and get the problem diagnosed with advanced software. Do mess with your life, fix the brakes.

My traction control light and anti lock light popped on today and now the brake light popped on. i read the manual and it says to switch the traction control button back to on but i can't find it

I think your traction control button is on the center console behind the Shifter.
But, I don't think that is the problem. That switch will cause the traction control and light to turn on and off. It should not affect the brake light and anti-lock light.

I would first check your brake fluid level. Top it off with the correct fluid. The fluid is a DOT number; like DOT3 or DOT5. Use the correct DOT fluid.
If the fluid is very low, you may need your brake fluid system bled to remove any air. And you may want to check the brake pads. Low fluid may mean you need new pads.

If that doesn't work, go to an auto parts store that will scan your car for ODB2 error codes. AutoZone will do it for free. I suspect you may have a bad wheel bearing. That will cause the ABS and Trac lights to go on. I've replaced GM bearing/sensors on several of my cars. The last one was my 2005 Bonneville. The bearing and sensor are combined in one unit.

Anti lock light is on and traction control willo not turn on

If the anti lock brake light is on the traction control will not be allowed. You need to get the codes checked for the anti lock brakes to diagnose the problem.Getting the codes will lead you to which sensor or wire could be giving you the problem.Usually a speed sensor.Let me know what codes you come up with and I can help you out.Hope this helps.Good luck.

ABS light came on and also the Advanctrac light....says check ADVtrac.

There are many sensors on your anti-lock brake system, as well as on your traction control system. Sometimes one giving a signal will set off the other one. Unless you are can physically feel any symptoms, then a computer test is really the only way to tell what the problem is. Many auto part stores offer to check the computer, and many of those will do it for free. One you know what the computer says is wrong, you can have the problem repaired. You can still drive your vehicle, but be aware that it is highly possible that your anti-lock function as well as the traction control system may not work. The anti-lock keeps your wheels from locking up if you slam on the brakes. The traction control diverts power and/or uses the anti-lock brake system to reduce braking on a certain wheel. I would imagine that there is a problem with the anti lock brake system since it is used in the traction control system. Hope it turns out to be small!

Anti-Lock brake light and traction off light came on

U have most likely damaged a wheel sensor ring, in order to ID the one you damaged u will need to have the ABS/TRACTION CONTROL system tested for trouble codes, this will lead to the right area for repair.

2001 Bonneville Left Blinker, Traction Control, Door Locks

With the key OFF, turn on parking lamps and emergency flashers. Then walk around the entire car, looking for lamps changing brilliance. Any that DON'T change brilliance either have a bad bulb or a bad ground connection!
