You will have to try to access where the cable connects to the hood latch from under the vehicle, just behind the grille.

Can't open the hood by pulling hood release

Cable is stretched/sprung. Access hood release panel and pull cable with channel locks.. or worse, something is stuck in the latch mechanism under hood.
See repair rep at Ford in any case.

Hood does not open

The latch could be stuck or the cable broke. You might try bumping the hood with someone pulling on the release.
Otherwise you may have to remove the grille to access the latch.

How do i open the hood.

there should be a lever that is on the bottom edge of dash that is under the steering wheel along the trim. if the handle is broken you can use pliers to grab the cable and pull it to get the hood to realse. if you found all that and i seems to work ok then when pulling the release lever have a friend hit or shake the hood to get it to pop up a little so that you can open it all the way.

How to open a broken hood latch on 2000 ford explorer

if it is broken from inside the cab, skin the cable housing until you get to the cable and grab it with pliers or vice grips and pull the release. If it is broken from the latch under the hood you are going to need to get to the latch and release it with something, anything that you can get in there and pull the release latch.

My hood got stuck and i cant open it how do i open it help

Common problem. Have someone pull the release while you bang on the edge of the front of the hood with the heal of your hand, keep on the edge as you can dent the hood very easy. it will pop open then spray the latch with WD40. Let me know if this works.

1994 Ford Explorer hood wouldn't open when pulled on release below steering wheel. How do you open the hood otherwise?

have someone hold the hood release handle out. go to the front of the car and in the center, at the front, right around where the latch is, hit it. don't punch it b/c you may break your hand, just make a fist and pound the side of your hand against the hood. you may need to do this a few times, but 9 times out of 10 this will shock the latch and make it release.

Opening hood on 1992 Ford Explorer

I had the same problem with my hood. I had that handy wire hanging out of the front but it didn't want to release the hood. The cable was jammed and the hood had to be manually released via ratchet. After you can get the hood open maneuver the cable under the plastic piece where the hood meets the grill to stop this from happening again.
