Question about 2002 Land Rover Freelander
The Freelander diesel is notorious for Fuel pump failure, most commonly the one in the tank, access is via under the back seat, Pump replacement is an easy job but get an aftermarket pump as the OEM units are pricey. Fuel pump life seems to suffer if you drive around most of the time with a low tank level, say 1/3 or less, or if the good lady screws up and fills it with petrol...us blokes would never do that would we??
A quick roadside fix is to vigously pound the underside of the fuel tank with a flat mallet, even a fist...not a hammer as you'll dent the tank...that should jump the pump into operation for a while to get you home
Good luck, David
