Jeep wont start, engine goes to turn over but wont go all the way

Jeep wont start, the engine goes to turn over but it stays at the same intensity and wont start. All of the electronics are working, it does not "click" when it goes to start, nor does it seem to be dieing at all over the last couple of days. Suggestions?

OK, you lost me with the first sentence. Is the engine turning but not starting when you turn the key? If it's not, check the battery terminal connections. The "electronics" draw far less amperage than does the starter. so don't pay a lot of attention to that now. Make sure the battery has a full 12 volts in it or any testing is invalid. I'll walk you through the remainder of the testing if you need it but first check what I said.

Terminals are good, and yes the engine is turning but will not start. It will continue to turn as long as i have the key turned but will not start. I do not have the equipment to check the voltage but the battery is new last year so i am thinking it is not a battery problem. Thanks for the help so far.

Ok...what you need to determine next is if the fuel pump is operating. Turn the key to the on position and have someone listen at the tank. If you can't hear it, it's not on. (that can be pump relay, pump or sometimes asd relay) to quick check relays see if you can feel each click when the key is turned on. If you can get the pump to run by banging on the tank bottom go no further and replace the pump. Most relays are the exact same and can be interchanged as well (except abs relay)
If the pump is coming on the next item to check is the crank position sensor. You will need a digital multi-meter and a manual for the test, but if you shoot some carb cleaner into the intake and the engine starts (do while cranking) likely it is OK and then back to the pump or get a chiltons manual and a meter and do complete testing. Battery needs to be fully charged or any tests are invalid.

Immobilizer light stays on engine won't start

Make sure the key isn't on a keyring, and if you have a spare key try holding it against the ignition barrel whilst trying to start the car. Failing that, it's an auto electrician job. China OBD2 car diagnostic tools wholesale on CareUCar

1996 jeep wont stay started and oil pressure gauge goes up and down

hot or cold engine , or both.?
the oil pressure will be in direct ratio to engine rpm. slow low, fast high
due to the oil pump connection to engine crankshaft.

stalls.: can be caused by 50 things, or just 4 in physics.
the EGR valve (if you have one, no engine stated)
can stick open and stall any engine, and in fact LOVES to. clean it.
1: list 12vdc to EFI. (spark and fuel brain) dash lights dim?
2: lost compression hot, ? compression tests.
3: lost spark, do spark tests. and timing, checks.
4: bad fueling, too much if floods, and misfires and stalls.
too little fuel, it starves and dies.

the 1 free test, is can you save the stall with a fast right foot.

we do the tests. avoiding those 50 guesses....
each tests are simple and the tools dirt cheap .

The jeep will turn over for several hours and will fire every now and then it wont stay started

If the check engine light does NOT light up on the dash when you turn on the ignition, before cranking, then your jeep ECU is in need of repair. It is called the delayed start problem, affecting early 90's Jeep vehicles.
Replacement or repair services for your ECU are available on ebay.

Starts but wont stay started

There is a temperature sensor by the upper radiator hose it goes into the intake or block and a temp sensor in the bottom of the throttle body telling the engine that it's cold and needs a richer mixture to keep running

I have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee. one of the mini yellow 20amp fuses in the engine compartment fuse box keeps trippin. it only does this when im slowing down and almost come to a complete stop it trips....

That's why on problems like that I give "general" how to find it type answers .... If I could do hands on testing I'd have found the problem just as you did, but, try and guess what exactly what was wrong, without being able to see it,and you could be way off, except for the method of checking.
]Hope you taped each wire individually, then wrapped the bundle well and secured it. Otherwise water and road salts will get in there and eat up those wires over time.
Good Luck with your Jeep!!

My jeep wont stay running.

Jeep has an anti theft system that will actuate if the battery goes dead or if the battery is replaced. You may just have to unlock the driver's side door with the key. This sounds weird but I have seen this on a couple of vehicles. My brothers 1993 jeep would start and imediatly stop after running the battery down while listening to the radio all night. While jumpstarting the jeep we ran into this problem and He solved it when he unlocked the driver's side door with the key.
I have also seen this in a 2005 Nissan pickup truck where a man at a gas station had just got his truck and for some reason his security system would not let his truck start it. It would not even fire when he was trying to start his truck' I remembered the situation with the Jeep and sure enough when he unlocked his driver's side door he was able to start his truck. I do not know what caused his truck to do that to him.
