First thing to check is the filter that has been used. Believe it or, these aftermarket filters can cause oil pressure issue and do engine damage. Several manufacturers have actually issued TSBs to address these kinds of issues. When you look at your invoice, look at the type and weight of oil used. Change the oil if it is not the type and weught recomended in your owner's handbbook. Make sure you are using a manufacturer's oil filter(Mopar). It's taken me a lot of years and mistakes to be able give this kind of advice! Let me know what you find and I can advise further if you need anything.

What can be the problem the oil light stays on on the dashboard but the oil level is ok (endura de)

The oil light refers to oil PRESSURE, not oil level. That said, if the oil pressure is low enough to set the oil light, then you should be hearing rattling noises coming from the engine when it is running. That is not to say that you may not still have a problem. The oil light is nothing to take lightly. If there is an oil pressure problem, engine damage can occur quickly. Check the wiring connection to the oil pressure sending unit. If you suspect that the problem is not really low oil pressure, then change the pressure sensor. It is relatively cheap and the easiest way to verify whether there is a real problem. If the light remains on after the sensor is replaced, have the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge to verify that it is low. If it is low, you either have a very worn out engine, or a malfunctioning oil pump system.

I had changed the oil 2000 miles ago cause the check oil light came on. The light still remained on after the oil change. I told the mechanic and he did something to the system and the light went off. Now...

You need to check the oil pressure. You need a analogue oil pressure guage to fit in the hole where the sensor is on the engine. It may need an adapter to make one fit. This will give you a correct oil pressure reading. Did you change the oil filter when you changed the oil?

Oil light comes on when you stop for red light

Oil sending units go bad frquently and cause the oil light to come on at idle after the car is warmed up. If you were to take it to a shop, they would test the oil pressure to determine if the pressure is acceptable. I would just go ahead and replace the sending unit. They are not expensive and if that causes the light to go out, and it probably will, you just saved a one hour diagnosis at $90 to $100 an hour. Also, if the oil is overdue to be changed, that can cause the light to come on. Hope this helps. Have a nice Friday :O) Peter

On my 93 Dodge Caravan ES 3.3L, when it comes to a stop and idles (at a light mostly) the check gauges light comes on. When the check gauges light comes on the oil gauge is at the bottom. When I tap...

Okay What it means is that the oil in your car is either low in level or the oil pressure at low revolutions is low. I highly recommend you to stop driving the car when this happen because you can internally damage the engine with a low oil or a low pressure of oil. Check the oil level first..make sure level is fine and oil looks good. Black and burned oil will give you a low oil pressure as well. If it happen that your car need a oil change. Make sure you get it done and see if the problem goes away. Very rarely oils pressure sensor goes bad but if oil is new and level is fine you can take the oil pressure sensor and connect a tester for a oil pressure. If this is not under the manufacturer specifications.. oil pump is worn out and you have to replace it for a new one.
Good luck and don't forget to rte me. Thanks

Everytime we stop at light the oil light comes on then turns off as soon as gas pedal is pressed

The oil lights come on because there isn't enough oil pressure in the engine... When you come to a red light, the engine is at idle in a lower rpm and there isn't enought oil in your engine to cycle, thus creating low pressure, and the indicator comes on, however when you rev your engine or press the gas pedal, the remaining oil that you have in your engine is being cylce because of higher rpm, thus bypassing the oil sensor. Solution to this, is you need to add oil to the apropriate oil level AS SOON AS POSSIBLE or get a oil change before driving this car any longer as major mechanical issue may occur if you do not get this taken care of. You can buy a quart of oil at walmart or your local gas station and add it and get you by until you get it to the gas station. You may want to constantly keep a eye on the oil level as maybe your engine is burning oil, in order to avoid engine break down.

2004 Chev Epica - oil light comes when car comes to a stop

the oil light is coming on due to sensed low engine oil pressure, this is not a level issue unless u are about 3 quarts low, oil pressure indicators don't leave any computer codes, so who ever told u that is wrong, u need to test the oil pressure with a mechanical gage when the oil light is on, until U need to confirm that u don't have a real pressure issue here or you can burn out the engine bearings, if the pressure checks ok then rplace the oil pressure light sending unit in the engine.

Oil light comes on and dings all day

If engine is not ticking or knocking while running, likely the pressure sender is faulty. If changing it makes no difference, have actual pressure checked with a mechanical gauge.

Oil light comes on

this is an oil pressure light, most likely the sending unit for the gauge is defective, but I do recommened a shop hook up a oil press test gauge and verify u do't really have low oil pressure, then if that tests ok replace the sending unit on the engine.

Oil light comes on at certain times

First, check the oil level on the dipstick. If it is low, add the required amount of approved motor oil. If the level is correct and the light still comes on, there may be other issues.
