The timing chain doesn't really have a maintenance period. They don't have a habit of breaking or stretching. Timing belts on some vehicles do have a recomended replacement period. Locate your local NTB, Firestone, or Sears for the maintenance schedule.

No, the timing chain does not have a scheduled maintenance interval like a timing belt. If it becomes noisy it may require service, but until that time just do regular oil changes...preferably synthetic which will help it last longer.

You should have a timing belt on your sentra. Recommended timing belt replacement varies by manufacturer from 60,000 miles to 100,000 miles on average. It will tell you in your owners manual what nissan recommends but I would not go more than 90,000. If the belt breaks the piston(s) can be destroyed by a collision with the valve(s). I would play it safe and not find out if your sentra has this type of engine which is called an interference engine.

SOURCE: replace timng belt

well maybe there was some mis-communication there , nissan stopped using timing belts in sentra's and actually most all models in 2000 , maybe they were telling you that your serpentine belt needed changed ? but to answer your question , you do not have a timing belt in your 2002 nissan sentra . its a chain . thanks

SOURCE: timing degree nissan sentra

Step1 First step is to open your hood on your vehicle and locate the distributor. Step2 Next loosen your distributor just enough that it will turn from side to side with some resistance. Step3After Loosening the distributor take a piece of chalk and mark on theharmonic balancer the timing mark so it can be seen easily. Step4Then take the timing light and connect it to the battery and the Numberone spark plug wire. Then have your helper start the vehicle while youshine the timing light on the harmonic balance and the timing mark onthe timing chainmag-glass_10x10.gif cover. Step5The Timing Light will illuminate the mark on the harmonic balancer whenthe Number one cylinder is firing. The mark should correspond to thetiming mark on the timing chain cover. You can then adjust the timingforward or backwards by rotating the distributor ever so slightly. Step6 When you have the timing where you want it then shut off the engine and carefully tighten back down the distributor without moving it.

Both the 1.8 and 2.5 have chains. After the xterria 2003 all nissans have chain camshaft drives. Last sedan with belt was the 1994 Maxima

I have Nissan sentra GX 2002 90000Miles ,change timing belt?

I own this car, and I can say confidently that it has a timing chain instead of a belt. I believe you do not need to change the chain at any point...... it is more a matter of maintenance and repair to worn guides and tensioners.
