Best solution is go to junk yard to get a replacement or another option that often prefer is to replace both with news ones at $30 each. Specific instructions will come with the new lights.
There will be 3 or for bolts that hold the assembly inside the trunk just behind taillight,

here is the site with new lights to order.

SOURCE: remove passenger tail light

I have not yet worked on a Pilot, but from experiance, a lot of tail lights are pulled from the inside and not the out. You may check to see if it comes out from the trunk and not straight off the back from the outside.

gabenevins, a lot of places are selling the entire assembly and not just the lens. I would continue looking until you find just the lens unless you want to buy the whole piece. I do not know what the cost difference is. Perhaps pjpc might be able to tell you where to get just the lens.

SOURCE: need to replace rear passenger tail light

It will be one of the easiest replacements on the car. Inside the trunk, fold back the carpet and you should see fairly big wing nuts. Remove these and the whole assembly should come out. As you remove it, don't **** on the housing. The harness will have to be disconnected. The new lens can be installed reverse order.

SOURCE: the red lens on my tail light is broken, how do i

Replacement parts like this are available ONLY from a Ford dealer or a junk yard. You may find one in good shape at your local junk yard but you'll have to hunt for it. Screws for it are inside trunk compartment. Pull carpeting away and you'll see them.

Purchase a replacement tail light for your vehicle. You can find a broad selection by visiting the website listed in Resources or by going to your local automotive parts store.
Locate the tail light. You can find it on the rear of your car, located on the left and right sides. The lens color will vary depending on the type of vehicle that you have, but in most cases it will be red and will have red lights that light up when you press the breaks.
Remove the screws that are located on the corners of the plastic lens and lift off the lens. You will now see the bulb.
Place the new tail light in the place where you removed the old tail light. Make sure that you are putting the new tail light on right-side up. The screws will not line up and the tail light will not fit properly if it is upside down.
Replace each one of the screws.

Atroubleshooting tail lights

In your vehicle, the mounting bases for the tail lights and side markers (all the same circuit) are plastic. The plastic becomes brittle with age. If the plastic is broken or melted, the motion of the vehicle can cause the positive lead to short to the chassis, blowing the fuse. You will need to examine all of your tail light and side marker bulb bases to determine which one has been damaged, and replace that one.
Additionally, you will need to check for any wiring which may have been damaged to the point that the insulation is compromised, which will also cause a short circuit to chassis.

you most likely need new circuit boards
remove the tail light assemblies
take the tail light apart just the sameas you would to change the bulb
if they are RUSTED then they need to be replaced
the rust will cause high resistance
if they are not rusted or you have the updated circuit boards(they are plastic)
then check for power on the brown wire at the plug
if there is no power then you have a broken wire
hope you found this helpfull

Drivers side tail light

Remove the tail light, then the grey bar with all the lights by removing the two screws at the top and bottom. play with the light socket that dosen't work and chances are that it is cracked and broken. If it is broken then the contacts within are not making contacts becuase the black plastic socket is used to hold the contacts together. If you are handy, you can tear open the grey bar and solder the contacts together, then epoxy the bar back together. Or, find, purchase and replace the grey light socket bar.

I want to replace drivers side tail light assemblt that was broken in an accident. How do I remove the assembly? Sincerely, Ken Norman

Open the trunk and on the inside panel (usually grey with a carpet texture) you will find black knobs with hooks on them for a cargo net to attach. unscrew all of them and remove the panel. You will find studs from the tail light sticking through with sheet metal nust or plastic nuts. unscrew them also (usually 4 to 5 nuts). now pull out on the tail light and squeeze the light sockets and twist counter clockwise and pull the socket and bulb out. Replace the tail light with a new or good used one and reassemble everything in reverse order.

How to replace tail light

First you need to lift the hatch. There are two screws under plastic caps. Remove the caps and you will be able to unscrew these screws. Carefully using a flat screw driver to pry out the tail light assembly. It have to plastic pin that attached to the car body. do not break the pin. After you pry out the tail light assembly, you will be able to replace the light bulb. Replace everything in a reverse order.

Replacing the left rear driver side tail lamp assembly

Most of these type lights do not have a plug. I am assuming that you want to replace a burnt out lamp.

Here's what you do. Remove the assembtail lamp assembly. It is usually held on with 2 or 3 phillips head screws. If the problem is a burnt out lamp, the lamp assembly will unscrew from the unit by turning it counterclockwise about a quarter turn. Take the bad bulb to an auto parts store and get a replacement. The bulb will only fit one way into its socket. Then take the socket with the new bulb and insert it back in the housing. Again it will only fit one way. remount the tail light assembly.

If the actual plastic tail light assembly is broken or cracked remove the lamp assembly as described above, take the broken tail light to a dealer and ghet a new one. They are expensive. I just replaced one for my 95 F-150 pickup and it was $40.

How to remove the tail lights from a 2003 murano

Here's the step by step procedure from the beginning.
  1. Carefully remove the black one inch wide plastic molding strip that runs along the interior side of the tail light. This can be pried off carefully without breaking the plastic clips that hold it in place.
  2. Using a 10mm socket, remove the two bolts that you see which secure the tail light housing.
  3. The tail light housing is also held in place with three or four plastic clips which can be broken rather easily if you don't do this next step carefully. Begin prying the plastic tail light using a plastic putty knife or screwdriver. The top clip comes out pretty easily and so does the bottom one.
  4. On a cold winter day, the middle clip is the one that can break rather easily so gently rock the tail light or wait for warm weather when the plastic isn't brittle.
  5. Once the tail light "bucket" is removed it's a simple matter to replace the bulbs.
