Question about 1998 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

When we turn the key the car turns over very slowly as if the battery is weak, but then after 5 or so seconds turns over really quickly as if everything's normal. Replaced bad battery and bad starter and still have same issue.

Clean the ground straps between the battery and body, battery and engine and engine and body. Make sure all your wires are securely fastened at the starter. If that doesn't work change the power cable from the battery to the starter. Hope this helps.

Sounds like either weak battery or a weak starter not turning it over quick enough. Check thoses areas first and then go to the ignition switch and check

Turn key just a clicking noise. Lights come on. Check engine light on

A weak battery will make the lights come on & energize the solenoid for the starter, but the battery is too weak to make the starter motor turn. Checking the battery would be first, the solenoid second.

Batter Problem?

The battery supplies power to start the car. Once the car is running the alternator supplies power to keep it running and recharges the battery at the same time. The alternator would only be suspect if the charging voltage was low. The vehicle would need to be running for you to check this. Most parts stores and some shops will test your battery for free. If your battery is more than 5 years old it's probably do. The other possibility is that the starter is binding up and drawing more amperage than it should. This would put extra load on the battery and if the battery where getting weak , it would cause a similar if not the same symptom.

The car want start i think its the key because someone tried to steal the car before

IF YOU SEE CAR SECURITY LIGHT ON.WHEN YOU TURN KEY TO THE START POSITION.NO STARTER NOISE.TURN THE IGNITION KEY IN SWITCH TO THE RUN POSITION FOR 10 MINUTES.IF SECURITY LIGHT IS OFF.TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH FOR 5 SECONDS.THEN START ENGINE.IS IT STARTS OR NOT. YOUR SECURITY THEFT SYSTEM IS GOING BAD THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO REPLACE BODY CONTROL MODULE WITH NEW IGNITION KEYS AND LOCK CYLINDER AND SWITCH.THEY HAVE TO PROGRAM IT IN TO PCM SO CAR WILL START.MAKE SURE BATTERY IS GOOD IT HAS 12.5 VOLTS AND BATTERY CABLES CLEAN AND TIGHT.BECAUSE A BAD STARTER OR SOLENOID SWITCH AND WEAK BATTERY WILL CAUSE NO START UP.

1999 hard starting expedition, with 5.4 engine

fuel pump may be going. try this. turn key on, listen for fuel pump to run for 5 seconds. Turn key off, wait 15 seconds or until you hear relay click inside car. Turn key on again for 5 seconds and ff for 15 seconds. repeat once more. This will pressurize fuel system to 40 psi so injectors have full pressure. If it starts quickly now, you are getting bleed down through the check valve in the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail.

How to program the key for my bmw 750i model 1997 to lock/unlock the door

BMW 7-Series - Key Remote Programming
Three methods to try:
Method 1:
1. Working from within the vehicle and with the doors shut
2. Turn ignition to position 1 and back to off within 5 seconds.
3. Remove the key from ignition and press and hold the unlock button for 15 seconds during this time press the key lock button 3 times within 5 seconds.
4. Release both buttons.
5. Doors will lock and unlock to show correct programming has occurred.

Method 2:
To do this procedure you need to have one working key and one key that needs to be programmed.
1) Get in and close all doors.
2) Turn on the ignition and turn off quickly. (No more than 5 seconds) to start the process. Next action must take place within 30 seconds.
3) Remove the 1st key.
4) Hold the key up near your left shoulder (this is so it is closer to the remote receiver antenna.
5) Hold down the unlock button and press the lock button 3 times. Release the unlock button and the doors lock which confirms the operation.
6) Quickly repeat steps 4 & 5 for key #2 etc.
If it does not work, try doing the keys in opposite order. Key 2 then key 1, vs 1 then 2.

Method 3:
Alternate if you do not have a working remote
1. Turn key to position 1 five times very quickly 2. Remove key 3. Hold unlock button then press lock button 3 times, release unlock button.
4. If you have another key do the same button pressing within 30 seconds 5. Turn on ignition to finalise.
PLEASE NOTE: This programming procedure programs the remote control part of the key. Any transponder chip for the immobiliser (starting of car) will not be programmed and must be done by a specialist.
