Question about 2004 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

I have a 2004 expidition (eddie b.) edition with a 4.6 liter engine. It is acting up while idling, rpm's are going up and down. I checked all the vacuum hoses, changed the oxygen sensors and changed the idle air control. None of these fixed the problem. Any help?

Have you tested for any fault codes? This is common for the pcv line at the back of the intake manifold to leak. You cannot check this without removing the line, and inspecting it. This line rots out very often. This would be a good starting point for you. Please rate my answer , if you need more info let me know THanks RJ

Run away vehicle-99 chevy blazer wants to accelerate to 1500 rpm, braking will bring idle back down. What's problem?

In most cases problems with idle speed involve the idle air control valve or a dirty throttle body. The computer controls idle speed by how much air is allowed into the intake thru the control valve.
If the throttle is not sticking, I would check the valve and the bore of the throttle body.
You could also have a vac leak but that would usually be a constant problem.

4.0 liter motor will not idle below 24500 rpm. 1994 aerostar, 4 liter motor, auto

i hope that the 24,500 RPM is a miss-print and you mean 2450 RPM.

get a can of carburetor cleaner and spray around the intake manifold with the engine running if there is a vacuum leak causing the idle problem when you spray the cleaner around the leak the idle will change, if you find no leaks replace the idle control valve or motor witch ever you want to call it.

let me know if there is any thing else you need.

2002 Jeep Liberty - 3.7 Liter - Engine has begun to die when rpm is at or near idle. Such as pulling into a parking place or stopped at traffic light. More frequent after engine has warmed. Once engine...

I would start with cleaning the throttle bore and plate. Then clean the Idle Air Control valve, IAC, as this is the device that controls idle speed. Use a can of spray carb cleaner and an old toothbrush. Trouble with the IAC would make sense if you can keep the engine going by holding down the gas pedal a bit.
Use the carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks at hose connections and elbows. run engine and spray short bursts at hoses and listen for idle speed changes.
And lastly if problem is still there check MAP sensor.

Would an idle control valve cause a car not to accelerate?

no, idle air control valve is literally to control your idle speed.
what happen when you press on gas? car shakes, RPM goes up, or engine just bogs down?
