Question about 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

2 Answers

I have a 2008 Chevy Equinox LT. I have what appears to be a battery low voltage problem. I cannot find the battery. I have examined everything under the hood and in the trunk and have not found the battery. I have also checked all the rugs for evidence of something removable and found nothing. In addition, I have looked through all of the manual and have found nothing related to battery location. I also had my brother-in-law who is an expert automotive mechanic try to find it without success.

On the fixya site I found a Best Solution from 2009 that fits how the computer and fuse box are mounted on my vehicle. In Solution 1 the first sentence is not correct in that the fuse box is not near the radiator the computer box is. I will hold off trying to find it until I get another opinion.

Under the hood on the drivers side you will see a black plastic box
which holds the computer. Right in front of the fuse box are two sets of wires that come out of it. It needs to be removed and the whole box unsnaps. Under it is a larger black cover and under that you will find the battery. The positive side goes to a stud on the underhood fuse block. This will have a red cap on the stud. Just pull off and attach your positive cable from charger to the stud. The negative cable goes to a metal piece that looks like a bracket next to the oil dipstick tube. It is on the front side of engine. The remote negative (-) terminal is located in the front of the engine compartment, near the engine oil dipstick.

The battery is located under the fuse box on the driver side of the vehicle on the very front of the engine compartment. Near the radiator. You will have to remove the fuse panel, to get at it. Once you find the positive or negative wire follow it from the engine block and it will point you in the right driection

Alot of things can cause this. If your check engine light is on the get the codes read. Otherwise everything else is just a guess. It could be anything from a sensor failure to weak fuel pump to actual engine damage.

I have a 2008 equinox lt n i just bought. A alternater and a new battery. And after a couple of days driving it all the lights on dash comes on and as i'm driving all lights goes off n truck. Slows down n...

the way an alternator works is it has to have what is called a voltage sensing wire, which tells the alternator what level of charge your battery has and how much the alternator needs to put out. If your battery cables are corroded or damaged you can change the battery and alternator every week and the problem will persist. I would start buy checking cables and sensing wire (wire from alternator to battery) and be sure they are free of coorosion and visible damage. if all appears good then do a voltage drop test on battery terminals and cables. also voltage drop test on voltage sensing wire (wire form alternator to battery). this series of test should give you an answer. any further questions feel free to ask.

Lock/unlock motor may be failing. Remove the door panel and remove the connector from the lock motor. Check the dc voltage at the connector while pressing the lock switch. If you see battery voltage, replace the motor. If the voltage is low, inspect the wiring.

Error code p062b 2012 equinox

Had the same problem on our 2012 Equinox today. Threw codes P026B and P062F. Appears to be a bad battery. Replaced battery and all seems ok now...keeping fingers crossed. My suspicion is that the faulty, dying battery caused a low voltage situation in the injector control module and thus those errors. Will see if the check engine light returns in the next 48 hours.

Usually a sign of something draining the battery.
The machine test probably showed the battery could hold a charge and the alternator was charging the battery.
You may need to have someone check for a power drain.
When the key switch is off, there may be a weak short to ground or a relay or component that is using power.
