If the fluid is coming from the bell housing of the transmission, your front hydraulic pump seal has walked. The only fix for this is to remove and rebuild the transmission. This commonly happens around 200,000 miles.

2004 Chevy Silverado will not shift out of park, has a leaking transmission line. If fluid is low will it cause this problem

it will cause it not to move in gear, for the transmission runs on pressure from the fluid,if it doesn't shift out of park at all could be lingage on shifter.

this problem is a common failure associated with your shift solenoinds inside your tranny. of course a shop is not gonna tell you this because by the time you wanna get it repaired it is usually too late and have already cause damage to your clutch pack and internal parts, thats the main reason why a shop wont mess with just replacing your shift solenoid (aka valve bodie)

your transmission has possibly been rebuilt with stronger springs put in. No worries. have been running mine for along while without any problems. Better this than slipping, but it is a bit annoying.

Automatic Transmission shifts late and rough after warm

If it has over 60000 miles it may need a transmission service, which includes a filter and fluid change, fluid may look fine but if filter is clogged and not picking up fluid fast enough when u give it gas the pump spins faster and forces fluid thru to shift, more fluid is needed to shift into higher gear.than to drive
