do you hear the fuel pump running if not then the fuel pump may need replacing or if you do hear it the fuel filter may be plugged from the pump pumping dirt from the bottom of the tank.
looked it up online, says that for 1992 new yorker it's in the fuel tank. wouldn't swear that the resource i use is 100% reliable, but have only found a few cases where it was wrong. hope that helps
