Question about 1991 Mercury Capri

I may need a new oil sender/switch for my Capri XR2. My mechanic can't find the OEM one, it's discontinued. I have found some aftermarket ones with a range of 15-100 PSI. I read that operating pressure is 30-60 PSI and the gauge is 120 PSI range. I can't locate the correct PSI specs to determine which sender/switch to buy for the turbo model. Right after my oil change, the gauge was reading low. At start up, it's usually ok. As it warms, it's reading lower than normal. After a short sit and restart, it's almost at 0. I've owned it 13 years and it has 28K. The oil level is good, oil is clean, no leaks, no metal sounds, temp gauge is normal and turbo has normal boost. I've only made short trips of 10 miles or less in town to be careful and see if it's just a temporary quirk. From talks with mechanics and Capri forum posts, the gauge could be failing or simply off since they have been deemed inaccurate. A short in the wire has also been suggested. It's stumped everyone since it seems related to short sits and temperature. Any advice is appreciated. Doug

I myself would go for the pressure sensor, should be located either on the side of the block or on the side of the side of the oil pan. If you're concerned about the reading, the aftermarket sensors you mentioned should work just fine.

Faulty oil pressure sensor [ ls1 ] australia

Hi Grumpy, If there is one single cable connected to the Oil Pressure Sensor it is usually a direct connection to the instrument panel light. Basically it's a make and break pressure switch. If there more than one cable it will probably be controlled via the computer and therefore you'll need to replace it. Let me know more details? Regards John

My wiper moter and spray quite i replaced the moter no change fuses look good as well 1992 mercury capri xr2

If both the wiper motor and the washer motor do not work, then it is the 25 amp fuse, or the wiper control module in the dash...possibly the switch in the steering column, but I doubt that...

Your car looks like a Ford Capri engineered in Australia from a Mazda 323. These are quite common in New Zealand and Australia . Unfortunately they came out at the same time as the MX5 and didn't sell well.
Do a search on Google images for Ford Capri to see if they are the same. If they are parts are readily available ex Mazda
