that would make sence because before we installed the new starter/solenoid the car ran and had lights, the moment we got the new one in no power. the solenoid was brand new with the starter tho..

its a brand new starter, we just replaced it and thats when the troubles started. also there was a fusable link from the positive battery cable that we just replaced, still no power, no lights nothing.

also before we changed the starter the ignition switch would click and click and eventually start.

Check the wire harness a foot or two from the

May have to open up some harness a little

Try to put battery power directly to the starter solenoid,
to see if it turns over,be careful under there, with the key

1991 chevy camero

Check the battery. If the battery is good, check for power to the starter. If you have power to the starter, but it won't crank over, you might have a bad starter. You can try whacking it a few times with a hammer to try and shift the armature. If that lets it crank over, you have a bad starter.

I replaced my starter on my 85 car and also the silanod last week and now the silnoild works but the starter wont work. the starter wants to stay on all the time? when i took the starter off and...

If starter is staying on "all the time" - your solenoid is bad. Solenoid controls power to starter. Try another solenoid and if problem continues you have a bad ignition switch.

I need to know how to install the new starter a 1987 camero.

General procedure to replace a starter is to disconnect the battery, un-bolt the starter from the engine,
remove the wires from the solenoid (mark them so you know where they go) and reverse the process to install. If there is anything in the way of physically getting the starter out, remove or move it out of the way. some starters require a bit of turning to get them to clear obstructions. If your radio has a security code, know it before disconnecting the battery...same for security systems if you have one.
The connections on the starter are mounted in a plastic cap....don't over-tighten or you will break it.

I have a 1995 camero i went to start it and it did nothing no click click click sound from the starter or nothing cound this be a starter problem

your idea is right but also located on the starter is what is called a solenoid generally its half the size of the alternator and in order for the starter to turn the solenoid must get power from the battery so with that in mind check your battery to see if its charged properly and negative and power cables are not coroded on the solenoid hope that helps.
if all that is in order you may want to check your fuse to see if its not blown.
