Tensioner should be kind of centered as you look at the motor. There will be a plastic cap over the center of the pulley hiding the nut. Put a socket and breaker bar on that to release enough tension to remove the belt.

How do you replace 2008 Mercedes Benz C300 belt tensioner

Use a 17mm socket on the knob on the front of the belt tensioner (kind of hidden below the pulley) to pull the tensioner to its end stop. You then want to put a 3 or 4 mm thick rod into the locking hole to keep the tensioner in place so you can get to the2 mounting bolts. Simply remove the bolts and install the new tensioner in the reverse order. This linked page has a pick that clearly shows the locking rod and adjusting knob: Mercedes Benz CLASS Belt Tensioner OE 2722000070 272 200 00 70

How to remove belt tensioner on mb300 1991

Lock nut should be accessable from the front, loosen it and then from the top take tension of the belt by loosening the unit. Once belt in off remove front cover and unbolt from the car and remove. There is a red/orange locktite that holds them in so they will be tough at first and usually wont turn easy on the way out.

How to fit fan belt for mercedes 250 deisel

1- Loosen the Tension Lock Nut between the power steering pulley and water pump pulley first. This is important. Otherwise, it will cost you more to replace the tension nut kit. 2- Loosen the Tension Nut next. 3- There are 2 bolts to hold the alternator on to the engine bracket, Loose the top one while remove the bottom one. Use the top one as a pivot point to move the alternator to get the belt out and in. 4- After put the new belt in, follow the reverse order. Have fun in a hand-on job.

It is a straight forward procedure, but getting it around the fan is tight. Just put a wrench on the belt tensioner pulley, and pull up on it to loosen the belt. While holding the tensioner up, slip the belt off. Just make sure you draw a diagram of the belt routing, before taking it off.
