Question about 2001 Ford Taurus

Vehicle is showing a code PO304 on a 2001 Ford Taurus. I have changed the fuel filter, the spark plugs, the coil,the air filter all just recently. Last year, I changed out the plug wires. Does anyone have suggestions as to this code? Your help is appreciated

    Just wondering if it could be a clogged injector? Any thoughts on that? Thanks

This code is cylinder 4 misfire detected
Will be ignition/injector fault
A good scanner might pinpoint the problem

Do you have spark at the number four cylinder? Check that if spark is present , then you should swap the injector from four to five and see if the miss goes with the injector. If not then you will need to test the engine compression .

    Possible that would be why swapping the injector with another cylinder would verify this before just purchasing a new injector.

I have a 2006 ford taurus that skips bad the fuel pump has been replaced 2 times n the compter

By "skips," I'm assuming that you mean it has a misfire.
Check all of the following:
  1. Fuel filter;
  2. Fuel pressure regulator:
  3. Spark plug wires;
  4. Spark plugs;
  5. Fuel injectors;
  6. Coil packs
  7. If there is a CHECK ENGINE light showing, have all codes read and correct all conditions.
  8. If the car sat for more than six months recently, if you live in an area where humidity is high, or if there is any chance of fuel contamination, manually drain ALL FUEL and replace with new. Use FUEL SYSTEM AND FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER every six months.

1997 Ford Taurus wont start no spark to the spark plugs

Changing parts is not how you repair a vehicle

You test systems & components using wiring diagrams

No diagrams & reference material,how would you know
what your working on?

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. I got my car checked out at Auto Zone and the code said that the number three cylinder was misfiring. I have changed the oil, had a tune up,( new sparks plugs, fuel and air...

First off I think it's time for a new mechanic. Doing an oil change and replacing the fuel filter and air filter have nothing to do with a misfire. Spark plugs and ignition coils can cause a misfire, but a good mechanic will test the coil and inspect the plugs instead of just guessing. Your mechanic is guessing and just throwing new parts at the car. A misfire can be caused by (aside from a bad coil or plug) a faulty or clogged fuel injector, spark plug wire, wiring to the injector or a vacuum leak. Since you only have a misfire in one cylinder, and you hear a whistle on acceleration, I would suspect a leak in the intake manifold. Go to a reputable repair shop and have them check the manifold for leaks. You can also check yourself by buying an automotive stethoscope, and moving it around the perimeter of the intake manifold listening for a hissing sound. Or have someone press on the gas while listening for a hiss under the hood.

What do i need to check if the number three cylindar is miss firing. I have ignition coil, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter. I had and oil change as well.

Have you had it scanned anywhere. If its misfiring, the computer will read it as a misfire. if it is misfiring, the probable cause is the fuel injector. have you changed the plug wires with the plugs?

My number 3 spark plug is misfiring i tuned it and its misfiring

Tuned-How -Spark plugs??

You have a misfire, you say on #3,
that isn't a plug issue

Have you tested the ignition module

Have a scope put on secondary ignition,
so you don't keep throwing parts at it

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus that shows PO302 and PO171. Can anyboby help me with these codes as my car is running very badly? It is hesitating and running very rough, I would like to solve this problem very...

P0302: Cylinder #2 misfire.
P0171: System too lean, (bank 1)
The first may be a bad spark plug or the wiring to it. If it has been some time since the engine has had a tuneup, change all spark plugs and plug wiring. Check the air cleaner and replace if dirty. If it runs much better, recheck the codes again. If the car has 100k miles or over, it wouldn't hurt to replace the O2 sensors as they do wear out (even though the codes don't show that at this time). Replace the fuel filter as well. Running some injector cleaner through in the fuel will help too. If still having problems, check the system fuel pressure as the pump may be on the verge of failing. Again, the codes don't show this as a problem yet. Good luck.

Engine will start sometimes and sometimes it will not

Check coil and coil wire sometimes the spark is intermittent. Make sure you oil stick shows oil near the full line. Make sure your battery is fully charged the car will not start if battery voltage is below 12 volts. Make sure your car is tuned up with good spark plugs, wires, clean air filter, and a clean fuel filter. Your Taurus is a great car take care of it.
