How to replace front shocks on 1995 Chevrolet K1500

The bottom mount is easy. It isn't easy to get the top. If you can get vice grips on the flat at the top of the stem where the nut holds the shock to the a arm and get the nut off consider yourself lucky. If you can get the nut loosened enough to get a blade in there you can use a sawzall/reciprocating saw to cut the shock below the nut and it will drop right out when the bottom mount is removed.

How to change self leveling shocks with regular ones on 1995 mercedes s500. I changed them now I dont know what to do about the fluid lines.

The best thing to do for the integrity of the vehicle is to zip tie them out of the way. Put mild bends to get them where you need and use a few zip ties to hold them indefinately. Please don't remove them. If you decide later to install the proper ones or sell the car, it would decrease the value if they are gone. Also disconnect the leveling motor so it does not run and burn itself up.

Do i have to remove the back seat to take rear struts off

Answer
REMOVAL - SHOCK ASSEMBLY
NOTE: Access for the nuts attaching the rear shock assembly upper mount to the vehicle is through the inside of the trunk.

Roll back carpeting on top of the rear shock tower to access shock mounting nuts.
Remove plastic cover from the top of the shock assembly.
Remove 2 nuts attaching the shock assembly upper mount/spring seat to the shock tower.
Raise vehicle on jackstands or centered on a frame contact type hoist. (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE)
Remove the rear wheel and tire assembly from the vehicle.
Remove two fasteners holding the splash shield to the shock assembly upper mount.
Remove bolt attaching shock absorber to rear knuckle (Shock Absorber Attachment To Knuckle).
Remove the shock absorber from the rear knuckle first when removing the shock absorber from vehicle by pushing down on the rear suspension.
Move shock assembly downward and tilt top of shock outward, then remove shock assembly from vehicle through top of wheel opening

How do i replace the back shocks?

if you bounce the car by putting your weight on the rear bumper with your knee you can test the rear shocks. If the car bounces more than once on the way up you need shocks. I generally replace shocks on new cars with factory installed shocks anywhere from 40,000 - 50,000 miles. There are bolts at the top and bottom of the shocks that will have to be removed. You can do this a little easier by removing the rear wheels and placing the car on Jack Stands.

Modulator or stage pistons are going out. You can try replacing the pistons as they are cheap and can be done without removing the transmission. Head to benzworld.org or peachparts.come for more help.

How to change shock absorbers on a 1995 ford crown victoria. the nut on the front shock doesn't come off, it just keeps turning.

On the top of the shock shaft you will see a flat spot. You need to find a wrench or crescent wrench to hold the shock there while turning the nut. If these do not hold the shock still you will need to get a pair of vise grips.

I need to replace "shocks" in tailgate.

You need a deep 9/16 socket for the top nut, on a swivel would be great. Keep the jeep on the ground and remove the top nut first. Remove the bottom 1/2 inch nuts and bolts (2). Install in reverse order.

Jack up the front end and place on jack stands. Place jack stands on the frame behind the front wheels. Ensure stands are not in a place where they will slip and make sure vehicle is on an even surface as you do not want the vehicle to fall off of the stands, especially while you are under it. Remove tires once vehicle has been placed on the stands. Remove the top and bottom bolts from the long tubular shock. Then remove the bolts holding the coil shocks on. Because when doing this as there may be tension in the coil springs still. Replace the shocks and reinstall the bolts. This job is fairly simple but can be intimidating if you have never done it before. You will be amazed at how easy it actually is once you have done it. Just be sure to remember how everything came apart and you will be able to get everything back together just fine. You can use the jack to adjust the axle up or down to make getting the shocks out easier. Repeat for the rear. Good luck
