No this means there is a emissions failure , you may or may not notice any symptoms , but your vehicle will require having the codes checked to determine which system is seeing a fault.

The code is P0119 (Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Intermittent) Can you help? Thanks

  • rjlauria47 May 30, 2010

The most likely cause is a failed engine coolant temp sensor, this is located to the left of the alternator. It has two wires yellow /light green and grey / red , inspect the wires visually for damage maybe even follow the harness visually up to the engine computer looking for signs of harness issues, chafing or hot spots, if nothing is obvious i would replace the sensor and go from there. Since this is a intertmitant concern tracing a electrical problem will be difficult and time consumming so replacing the sensor would be the most efficient first step. Thanks Please rate my answer this helps me out greatly . Have a good one RJ

Wrence light and engine light both came on the morning--what does this mean?

The wrench light means you need maintaince done like getting your oil changed. It can be turned off by resetting it. The check engine lite could have came on because of a problem as simple as the gas cap being loose. It also might be time for your car to have it's normal service interval maintenance done. Good luck!

The emission cannister is a load of ****.There is nothing wrong with your motor. You seem to have done all things correctly. The engine light can be reset without going to a dealer. Many local mechanics know how to do it..Now.Make sure you do the camshaft timing belt when it needs to be done.If it breaks, big dollars. It bends the valves in the head of the motor. Now that is expensive. The main thing is to keep good oil in the motor.Oil is cheaper than metal.
Hope this helps

Service engine light on my Infinity 2001 QX4 4WD goes on and stays on usually for a couple of weeks then stays off for weeks, the code shows up as 420-430 which I think is catalytic converter, it's been...

The Service Engine Light means, time for an oil change and other regular maintainance items like engine air filter, check all other fluids, lube chassis, it's a reminder to take care of your car. When the maintainence is done, then you or whoever works on it resets the light, and it will come on again at the next proper interval. Every 3000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first is the standard.
Take good care of your car, it will cost you a bit, but your car will be happy and it will take good care of you. Neglect your car, it'll cost you much much more and you'll be sorry.

Have a 2006 PT Crusier that rough idle, and check engine light is on with code for #3 cylinder misfire. Replaced spark plugs and wires. Still have engine light on for #3 cylinder misfire. Seems to be fine...

I would start by having your codes cleared. If a fouled plug was the culprit, the pcm may not have reconized that it was fixed.

Try running a bottle of sea foam through it. You could have a sticking fuel injector.

As a last resort , have a compression test done. A crack in the clyinder head could also cause this issue.

I hope this gets you started :)

I assume that you replaced the belt at 60,000 because that was the recommendation in the owner's manual. It needs to be done every 60,000 to keep the engine running fine so you should be giving serious thought to getting it done soon. Hope this helps.

If the light was flashing when it came on, then it means your engine is misfiring.

A solid light can mean anything.

This light comes on when the computer detects a fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this issue, the light will remain off. If the light turns off, then it has detected that the issue may no longer be present.

In order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that the computer would have stored when the light triggered. Most garages will do this free of charge. The code will tell you what may have caused the light to initially go
