Question about Hyundai Elantra
There are at least 2 mounting bolts on the starter.
You really SHOULD disconnect the battery 1st but, you will lose your radio code if you do. (Keep that in mind)
There are 3 leads on the starter. All of them connect to the solenoid. Note the colors and position of the 2 smaller wires as if you get them backward when you reinstall the starter it will not work.
Disconnect the large lead first and if you DO NOT disconnect the battery.... and it touches the chassis your going to have a serious light show. There is a also a fuse link in the wiring harness that will blow if this lead touches the chassis.
Then disconnect the 2 smaller leads off of the starter.
Unmount the mounting bolts 14mm socket and the starter will literally fall out one it is loose if you do not hold on to it.
What ever you do DO NOT allow any part of the wrench to touch a ground or the chassis while you are disconnecting the large lead!
To reinstall a starter, align it with the mounting holes and install the mounting bolts.
Then connect the 2 smaller leads in their original position and finally reconnect the large lead making sure your wrenches / socket and ratchet do NOT touch the chassis while tightening.
Thanks for using FixYa.
