I have had this problem for almost 2 months now. So what is happening is I have to barely baby the gas pedal in order for my truck to run properly (for the most part). If I push in more I get a backfire...

Tristan, you don't say what truck, what engine, how old, what miles, last service, injection or carb.
You've spent money on it in the hope of getting lucky. You need to focus on the problem. Back firing and lack of acceleration is usually a sign of a massive air leak into the manifold messing up the carefully managed fuel system. Have a good look at all the hoses on the smog system, the brake servo hose, and any other emission or vacuum hoses that could allow air in. Just for kicks try crimping the hoses one at a time with a pair of grips/ pliers and see if it suddenly stops it. GENTLY though! If this fails then look toward the inlet / exhaust gaskets doing the same thing, though much harder to pinpoint.

Its probably back-firing in the intake - which means it is firing early or the fuel mixture is very lean.
This engine uses a distributor cap and rotor, so I would start there and make sure the cylinders are firing correctly.
If the ignition checks out ok, it could be a problem with the cam timing.

I have a 94 Eagle Talon ES with a 1.8 DOHC, 16 Valve, from a different vehicle (still a DSM) that is having problems starting when it's cold. I live in Wisconsin where temperatures can be very cold and...

Check temp sensor for ecm. Some cars have two temp sensors. One for the dash gauge and one for the computer. The computer may not know its cold out.... the computer richens the air fuel for cold temps as needed for proper start.

spray some carb cleaner down the breather pipe the carb could be clogged up so it is not opening properly and choking the engine or flush out your feul they may be dirty and your not getting enough fuel through when you need it or your air intake senser might need changing cus if your air/fuel mix is wrong your engine will stall

The car isnt getting gas and i already replaced the fuel pump and its still doing the same thing

The car gets ZERO gas, as in: won't even try to start? If this is the case, try this test: one person in the car working the ignition, one person under the hood. Open the air cleaner assembly and pull the air filter out. Very slowly spray small amounts of starter spray into the air intake while your helper cranks the engine. If the engine tries to fire (or succeeds) then your problem is either a dirty fuel filter, clogged fuel lines, dirt in the gas tank or you got a bad new pump from the parts store. (Bad new parts happen a lot more often that most would think.)

Will not start already replaced fuel pump has spark

spray starter fluid into air intake and try to start it if it starts for a bit and dies you still arent getting fuel. Try changing fuel filter for starters. There are lots of things to check.

1996 Altima cranks, won't start

First, never use starting fluid on a gasoline engine. Check for dirty air filter, then check for Mass air flow sensor (Fault code) . This sensor controls fuel mapping, bad signal here will cause over fueling (black smoke) also called loading up (rich). Stopped up Air filter will affect Mass air flow. Perform OBD II test to prevent buying unneeded parts. Also delete stored codes.
