There is an air bag in steering wheel and dash board in front of passenger front seat. A crash sensor will set them off during a hard impact to the front or rear of vehicle.

In the steering wheel and passenger side dash.Due to the age of the vehicle probably doesn't have the curtain "side" airbags. The airbags were designed primarily for head on collisions. Here is some useful information to why the may have not deployed courtesy of http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/dec2001/collision.htm
How Air Bags Work To have a frontal (driver or passenger) air bag deploy, certain criteria must be met. One of these criteria is that the frontal impact must be within a 60-degree window, occurring within 30 degrees from the vehicle's centerline. Another key element is that the crash forces are equivalent to a head-on collision with an immovable barrier at 10-15 miles per hour. Because a typical automobile accident only lasts about 0.125 (1/8th) of a second, air bags deploy within 15 to 20ms after the initial crash impact. To create a protective cushion between the occupant and the vehicle's interior, the air bag inflates at speeds up to 200 mph within approximately 30ms after impact. This allows the occupant to contact a fully inflated bag within approximately 45 to 50ms after the initial crash impact. Approximately 100ms after impact the bag deflates.

Why didn't Nissan airbag deploy?

Speed....point of impact.....all make a difference on when an airbag deploys it is possible to have an accident and the airbag will not deploy the sensors have to register an impact of certain size and weight to deploy .....in older cars you are probably glad they did not deploy because they often blacked eyes broke noses and caused Neck injury by the amount of force they deployed at..

Locate airbag sensor

Many are mounted to the floor board under center counsel between front seats. If your airbag has been tripped you must replaces this module. They're hard to order new but I've had good success reusing from junk yard cars that haven't had bag deployed. Warning do not mess with airbag system until battery has been disconnected for at least 2 hours. I disconnect over night. These modules hold a charge with capacitors so it can activate in an accident even if battery cable is severed before bags are deployed. You must give capacitors time to discharge on their own or risk setting off the airbag by working with this system to soon. Of course this warning is only for working on systems that haven't already been set off or deployed. ie when reassembling system.

Where is the airbag sensor for the fender on a 95 monte carlo

The sensor consists of a sensing element, normally open switch contacts and a diagnostic resistor. The sensing element closes the switch contacts when the vehicle velocity changes are severe enough to warrant air bag deployment. They are located around the bumpers near the fenders. Look on the framing near the fender. I attached a picture of one.

We had two separate accidents involving a deer the airbags never deploy in neither collision. How do i disconnect them?

They didn't deploy cause you hit a deer, the airbags sensors need to get a gforce reading to deploy, hitting a deer ksnt enough to do it

Epc light vw beetle came on and also the airbag light and brake light

It would appear that your new purchase has been involved in an accident of some sort. As a general rule, the only time a airbag light or a ABS, (anti-lock braking system), lights will come on and remain on, is if there is a malfunction within the specific safety systems. You can attempt to repair the airbag yourself, but it is recommended that you take it to a professional. (If the airbag has not already deployed, chances are you will activate it if you are unaware of the proper handling procedures. (The deployment of an airbag can cause serious bodily harm).
As for the anti-lock system, start with the speed sensors at each individual hub or axle assembly. (Depending on the # and location). They can be checked by using a ohm meter across either wires and spinning the individual component. (Wheel). You should see a signal change from faster to slower. As with all automobile systems: ALWAYS check power and grounds).

Airbag light reset sx4

There is a manufacturer's recall on this if it's caused by a failure in the front passenger weight detection system.

The system has a minimum weight required in the front passenger seat for the airbag to deploy in an accident (if no one is in the front passenger seat during an accident, the airbag does NOT deploy). If the system fails and the car cannot determine if someone is in the front passenger seat, the light illuminates and in an accident the passenger airbag WILL deploy, even if there's no one in that seat.

The purpose of the system is to prevent airbag deployment for a lightweight child in the front seat. The fix is to replace the seat weight sensor mat...free if it's the recall item.

Hi The airgag system light stays on after ignition

The computer detected something wrong with the airbag system, and it's likely that the airbags will NOT deploy if you are in an accident. It could be a simple disconnected wire somewhere, or a bad sensor; not expensive to repair but you have to know exactly what to do to repair it, or you could set off the airbag instead.

Sorry, this is NOT a do-it-yourself project. Take this to your dealer or other trusted mechanic and get it repaired by a professional. If you set off the airbag trying to repair it yourself, you will cause about $2000 to $5000 (US) damage to the vehicle. And obviously, NOT having the airbag deploy in an accident when it should, could cause serious injury or death, even if you are wearing your seatbelts. (You DO wear your seltbelts, don't you?)

2000 Chevrolet Malibu LS airbag problems

The passenger side airbag is a lot easier then driver side. Take the glove box out and you will see two 10mm bolts holding it in place. When you open the passenger side front door, remove the panel on the side of the dash and you will see yellow connectors. The 1 closest to the front is attached to the air bag, it is clipped into the frame. Just pull it loose and take it out and your done. For the Driver side, it takes a skinny T27 to remove the two star bolts, then just disconnect the horn red clip and ground and install new airbag. The module is located under the passenger seat, underneath the carpet. Kinda stupid but thats where its at. You also need to replace the front impact sensor located behind the grille on the back side of the metal bar to each side. Follow the hood latch down. Also just to make sure, you know to disconnect the battery before you do all this. You don't want new airbags to accidentally deploy.

you might be able to obtain a CarFax report with the details. Also - depending on the location etc of the accident you should be able to obtain a police report that indicates if airbags deployed.
