Hi this could be a couple of things but it sounds more electrical then anything, best thing to do before anything is check the fuses make sure that you have not got any dead ones in the box, next would be the relay, they have a relay control unit this should also be in the fuse box, check that has not died, the reason why i think its electrical is because these systems have an electrically operates clutch which as it suggests when the switch for the air-con is pressed the signal is sent from the ECU ( engine control unit ) to the clutch on the pump which in turn engages it and pumps the fluid around...hope this helps

    yes it does actually, I checked both the fuses and the relay and still nothing, what could be next?

    next thing to check would be the + and the - feeds to the pump, locate a volt meter and test the feeds to the pump, there should be a plug you can pull off, get someone to turn ignition on to position 2 but not turn over, then put your volt meter on the + - contacts in plug and get them to press the ac button inside, if you get 12.5volts then that will mean from the switch to the power supply of the pump is ok, this will mean the pump clutch is u/s but you can test this as well, get some long bits of wire, connect them to the battery, ( make sure you don't touch them together for obvious reasons ) then gently just touch them on the + and - contacts directly on the pump, if it spins then pump is ok, if not pump is u/s and will need changing, if however you do not get any power through the actual wires from the switch, you will need to remove the ac panel and locate the rear of the switch, remove the plug off the switch and then switch the volt meter to ohm's ( meter should beep when contacted) then test switch, you can do the same with the ac switch plug as you did with the pump, just get the wires on the + and - with a direct feed, this should have same affect as putting them direct on the pump, this way you will find out weather the pump, switch, or wiring is faulty and you then know which to change...hope that is what you need.

there are 10 tests.
step 1 is the fan blowing hard and the A/C lamp on.
step 2, is the compressor shaft spinning fast. (not pulley the shaft)
ask for more DIY tests. if you can answer above.

My 2004 Chevy Tahoe is making a grinding/clicking noise when pressing on the gas.

I suggest removing the main drive belt and listen if the noise is still there,if not check for play or noise while spinnig each pulley(alt,water pump,a/c compressor).

Sorry to tell you this but if they used a recon compressor it could be bad!! Go and get the system checked to see if you have a leak that happens also and has the same affect. Good luck.

There is a possibility that the A/C compressor clutch burned up or got disconnected. Try investigating the wiring for the clutch.

If my ac compressor or ac belt is going out in my chevy tahoe (2003) will the engine make a rumbling sound when you only turn the ac on and will there be a squeal when you turn the ac on and accelerate the...

sounds like the belt needs tightening or replacing so yes you are indeed correct about the squeal, as for the rumble depends on how bad the rumble is but it shouldnt be caused by either you mentioned.

Air conditioning compressor not getting power on 96 Chevy Tahoe

Freon is what you are missing, our more specificly a refigerant charge that exceeds 45psi on the low side pressure line. This system has two pressure switches, a high side cut-out switch mounted on the rear of the compressor, and a low side or pressure cycling switch on the suction line.
Jump the low side switch contacts to ensure the electronics are sound for this system. If the compressor cycles, you know the system is low on a refrigerant charge. Turning on the AC is a request, and certain criteria must be met before the system operates as designed. Good luck

this may be a compresor issue,when the car is normal(a/c off) the compressor is not draging the engine,how ever when on if the compressor is goin bad(seizing) will turn your engine off and the belt will drag. have you compressor checked and also see if the system is over charged.

have the a/c compressor checked, the a/c compressor might be locking up due to wear and bad bearings. one way to test is to try turning the compressor clutch while the ENGINE IS OFF, if the clutch is very hard to turn or won't turn at all by hand then the compressor is bad. the clutch is what turns the pully, the pully should spin freely, the compressor clutch is on the end of the compressor on the pully side.

1999 Chevy Tahoe AC compressor cycles on and off.

That would be the fan clutch on the compressor itself... if it wont take a charge with all setting on high and running then you'll need to get it replaced , have a specialist inspect it to make sure the innards of the compresor arent junk...I have same pronblem with my 97 z28.. but it will take a charge and last 3 months then i have to recharge...The clutch and innards of my compressor are going bad..So its a chevy known issue,,,best of luck...Ohh one more thing do you hear a hiss when you turn it off and on, the ac that is

Replace power steering pump on a 99 tahoe

you have to remove the pulley get a PS pulley removing tool you will need it to put pulley back on
