truck starts transmission wont engage i think its a transmission problem i was just wondering if the security had any thing to do with the transmission not working

  • mfriesner71 May 31, 2010

so if the security has nothing to do with the transmission it must be a linkage problem in the transmission. damn had the truck for not even one day. this sucks.

The tougch pad on the door has no effect on the transmission. The theft system will prevent the engine from starting, i wonder if you mean the shifter will not move from park ,into gear. If so turn the ignition just slight forward from the lock position , but stop before any of the dash indicators can on, now with your foot on the brake see if you can move the shifter into nuetral, if so then you can start the truck and put into gear.

No the security has nothing to do with the transmission function, as for the door code your local dealer or well equipped repair shop can retreive the door code electronically for you.

Sorry i was not helpful, however i really beleive i answered the questions that you specifically asked. I responded twice trying to determine your actual problem and you would not give any more specific info that would allow me to help you further.Maybe you had another question other than what you actually asked. Good day to ya

2008 explorer door locks not locking from door switches

This is not a good thing. Ford uses a computer called the GEM and that means General Electronics Module. It controls:
  • Low Coolant Indicator On Cluster
  • Brake Indicator on Cluster
  • DRL - Control
  • Wipers
  • AutoLamps
  • Rear Defrost
  • Interior Lamps(dome)
  • High Beam Indicator only (cluster)
  • Low Coolant indicator
  • Key-in Buzzer
  • Seatbelt indicator only (Cluster)
  • Trunk Pop Relay
  • Power Locks
  • Door Ajar Sensors
  • Door Keyless entry pad
  • Remote Keyless Entry
  • One Touch Down (power window)
  • Air Bag Tone
  • Anti Theft (perimeter Alarm) (SEL, or SE(s) with mods)
  • Lift gate ajar (wagon)
  • Liftgate Pop
  • Accessory Delay signal (accessory that work after engine off, prior to door ajar)
  • Battery Saver Relay signal (accessory that work after engine off, 15 mins) Map lights, vanity mirrors

They are located behind the radio in the dash and they are $$$ about 600 USD.

2000 ford explorer car starts while theft light flashing runs very rough starving for gas shuts off . changed the fuel already.

Theft light has something to do with the anti theft security system. I know that on GM vehicles, when the TRANSPONDER in the key does not give the correct signal or when the ignition reads the signal wrong, the computer will shut off the injectors or fuel pump. Sounds like this is your problem. THEFT light is an immobilizing problem. Thats why the truck wont run.

Try re-setting the computer...Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and leave off for 5-10 minutes. This will allow the computer to reset. The charger may have interupted the signal or something.

1994 ford explorer limited anti-theft

Two tips:
* If your anti-theft system is sounding (horn honking/lights flashing)you press the panic button on your key fob to shut it off.

* If your anti-theft system is armed (but not triggered) it is disarmed when you unlock the door(s) using your unlock button on your keyfob, the key pad on the driver's door, or your key.

Hope help with this. Good luck (remember rated this).

It sounds like the vehicle is in theft mode, did you use a different key? Does the theft light blink really fast with the key off?If the passive anti-theft system has been activated the computer will have to be reset in order to get the vehicle running again.
