it acts like a dead battery. when you try to pull power to start it or turn on the lights, thats when this relay or switch makes all the noise. check engine light blinks on and off and then stops until you try to pull power again.

when you open the door or turn on anything for power is when this relay or switch is making the noise. there is no lights or anything. it acts like a dead battery.
    thank you

If the accessory still will energize, but the starter will not, the starter cylinoid may be stuck. If not that it may just be a relay. You simply open the relay box and find the particular one that is not switching over.

found out it is the computer itself making the clicking noise. i do not have lights or anything. all i get is like a switch or relay trying to open. all fuses are good. i left battery unhooked allday, had lights after hooking battery back up. tried to start it and all i got was the same thing. lights went out and noise started again. thinking about swapping batterys to see if that does anything. never heard of a computer going out before.

1998 ford mustang no start just a single click

If the starter is clicking when you turn the key that means it is getting power. It could possibly be a bad new starter but before taking it out and testing check your battery and ground connections. Make sure they are clean by using some sand paper. There is also a ground wire that hooks to engine make sure it is hooked up and not corroded. Even though you bought a new battery make sure it is fully charged. Remember to remove the ground from battery before taking any positive wires off. Hope this helps.

1965 thunderbird dead electrical

Unless it was different back then, the switch should allow starting in park or neutral like today's safety switches. So it could be that switch, and your test was invalid. Unless, as I said, it was different back then.
This car has the start relay bolted on the fender, doesn't it? If it does, that relay needs to be grounded to the fender to work, might check that. And pull off the small wire to the relay and check for power on it while the key is held in start. This is the start wire from the ignition switch and should click the relay on to pass battery voltage to the starter. If power there, the relay may need replacing. If no power, work back to the neutral safety switch. Pull the connector off and check for a power signal to the connector with the key held in start. If no power, it may be the ignition switch. If it does have power, see if the switch itself has continuity with the shifter in park.
Good luck on the old T-bird.

68 mustang new sylenoid, starter, battery. No power. Checked every wire everything seems to look ok. Any ideas would be helpful

Rechecked all battery connections? Check the fusible link or links in the wiring around or near the battery, maybe off the fender mounted relay. Fusible links are old time variants of regular fuses. If they burn out, they can be cut out and replaced. As part of the power distribution, they are near the battery source.

How do I replace the Fuel relay in my 1991 Mustang?

Front of RH (passenger side) strut tower near the MAF. Not exactly sure how hard it is to replace. Some have 2 one under seat one on pass fender wall. I believe 91+ has 2...LX units that were 4-cyl., used a CCRM module but had an empty relay socket under the driver's seat. 1990+ GT units had the FP relay relocated in the engine bay.

97 isuzu trooper. Starter motor has no power.

Check the battery and cables going to the starter. Weak arc? Possible that the relay needs to be rechecked now. The inertia switch may also be a possibility. Has the car been in a recent fender bender?

No power past the battery

Jump start it with + cable on battery - cable hooked to "lift hook" on pass-side of motor. also make sure its in PARK (or Neutral) make sure the "fuse links" (the pink wires from + battery terminal to wiring harness) arent broken or mangled.. if that still doesnt do it, on Pass-Side fender in a little back box (2in wide, 6in long, 6in deep) is a relay (beleve one closest to firewall) called "MAIN RELAY" Common failure on older pathfinders, it just gets old and worn out, replace it, through dealership its EXPENSIVE, through Junk-Yard it may be defective.. I've replaced mine with a cheaper style relay (had to cut/solder wires) ... Discussion Boards on have LOTS of great info on this kind of repair.
