If this is the tech 4 2.5L it could be a TCC problem. Try pulling the plug by the battery that leads into the transmission. If that doesn't solve the problem than it might be the module.

It might be a TCC. If you have a tech 4 engine 2.5L try pulling the electrical connection by the battery that leads into the transmission. If the car still shuts down and doesn't solve the problem it could be a module problem.

It could be a TCC. If you have a tech 4 engine than try disconnecting the solonoid by the battery to the the right. Leave disconnected and drive around. If this doesn't solve the problem than test the module out.

There are a range of thing that could cause this. Check the mass air flow sensor if it is dirty carefully clean it... Make sure your vacum lines are in good shape and have no leaks... Also check fuel system from pump to injectors. That did it for mine

Why does my 1989 Olds cutless ciera starter connections get red hot when starting the engine.

Before you do anything make sure your battery cables are clean and tight. Loose cables can do this as well. If that's not the problem
sounds like your starter is drawing too much power and is on it's way out. Could cause a fire Better get it fixed.

1988 olds cutlass 2.8 v6 4sp trany seems to stick in overdrive. trany fluid looks and smells fine. also shifts fine going up.

Hello,
I have a Olds Cutless Ciera 1089 with the 2.8 MFI V6, and my car was stalling more and more coming to a stop. It would always start right up, but as soon as I put in back in drive many times would stall again. You can try to prove that it is the Lock up clutch converter solenoid which is inside of a side cover on the drivers side. I unplugged mine and the problem went away for good. Per a GM dealership shop tech, said It won't hurt anything for a while. He said it wasn't urgent to fix a sticking solenoid, for weeks or months, but should fix it sometime. You might lose some of the gas mileage from unplugging it, no lock up at upper speeds. Old school cars never even had these, and they were plenty problematic in GM cars, of getting stuck or staying sticky. Hope this helps.

How do I change the gas filter on my 1994 Olds Cutless

on the same side of the car that you pump gas, you find the gas filter directly beneath the car in that area. its usually mounted with a large clamp, and you will need two wrenches to remove.
