I see. I did not realize you were looking for the 4x4 vacuum route. I'll see if I have that.

  • dw6198 May 30, 2010

i used the digram you provided and it helped me clean up the other vacum , thanks, that left me with the intake manifold vacum port i used that for vacum assesorirs such as cruise control, 4x4 acuator and dash vacum assist, i think it will be ok but if you have the route i will check what i have .

Under hood at the firewall on passenger side bulkhead should observe a set of heater hoses that run off a tee fitting, jump the Tee with a lenghth of same size hose to jump out the rear, if not locate the rear heater core and jump the heater hoses together at the rear by means of an adjustable fitting and two hose clamps.

4wheel drive will not engage

There are three main things that could cause this. #1: in the passenger side kick panel is a module that controls the 4x4 and it should be clicking as you try to put it in 4x4.#2:There is a vacume activator switch on the transfer case located on the top on the drivers side.(If the module is clicking and trying to put it in 4x4 then I would just go to this activator switch).#3 If you replace the switch and it still dosn't go in to 4x4 there is a vacum diaphram under the battery tray that pulls the front end into 4x4.Check and make sure that there is vacum getting to the diaphram which is controled by the activator on the transfer case.If no vacume at the activator or diaphram check all the vacume hoses going into and out of the activator. If no vacume while vehicle is running suspect bad vacume line. You will need to remove the battery to test the diaphram under the battery tray. You will need to hook up some kind of battery to the cables with the battery out of the car to get it started in order to check for vacume at the diaphram.

Heater goes from defost to vent when going up a hill.

there are vaccum check valves in the system. you need to find where the check valves are and disconnect each one and blow into one end and then in the other, the air should go thru only in one direction if it is good. these check valves are usually always the shape a disc say about the size of a nickle or a quater, then the disc shape will have tip extending from each side of the thing about and inch where the vacuum hose connect to it. one side of this valve will be white the other will be black. a better discription i guess would be like two very small funnels connected together, one white and one black.
I have had the same issue on other cars and this was the fix each time and the valves are very cheap. I have one in the shed now I believe.

1998 gmc jimmy has no 4x4 anymore

Hi there. under your battery is the 4x4 actuator. there should be a vacuum hose that is connected to it. this actuator is the one that will lock your front diff in 4x4. this hose could fall off and you will not have 4 wheel drive without it connected. If that hose is connected, there is another hose which comes from the vacuum switch up the back of the engine and over toward the driver side of the engine compartment. it tees off and one end goes to a little resevoir on the engine hood. with the engine running, check to see if you have vacuum to this hose. also with thye engine running press the 4x4 switch and make sure that the actuator os working. the vacuum should **** the diaphram in and hold it in. If there is vacuum to the diaphram when 4x4 is engaged but the diaphram doesn't hold, you will need a new actuator. Hope this helps you.

97 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab w/n turn over

Common problem with Dodge Rams. Nobody has the right parts (dealer only) the right part numbers, or the right diagrams or component lists or locations.
The 5.9 L most likely has no EGR valve, as mine does not. It does however have an Idle Air Control Valve located at the back bottom of the throttle body, which if removed, will show carbon buildup, preventing proper fuel/air mix.
You also may have a vacum leak at one or more vacum hoses on the intake manifold, a leak at the vacum ball that stores vacum for working the vent controls when the engine is off. It looks like a big black ball, and has a vacum line going from the top of the intake to the ball, maybe located behind the RH pass headlight. The rubber hoses dry oput, crack, and rot after a few years due to OZONE exposure from the air. Go ot and buy 6 or 8 feet od 3/32 rubber vacum hose, and replace everything that is suspect. Look for cracked Ts. Dont forget to check the larger vacum hoses that go to the charcoal canister and fuel tank vent valves. The rubber elbows have a tendency to pop off the charcoal canister connectors on a hot day if you overfill the gas tank, and the rubber elbows are old and stretched out.
God Luck.
