On any car always check ur fuses first... and ifthat does't work then check your distributor by taking out a spark plug from only one cylnder and put it in the plug and lay it on the block. then turn your key as if to crank it and c if ur getting a spark from the spark plug. if u aren't, then its either the distributor cap, a worn rotory button inside the distributor cap or it could be the moduel inside the distributor which would then mean youll have to replace the whole distributor

Are you saying the starter motor won't crank the engine?
Was it working ok before you worked on it?
Make sure battery has a full charge, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse.
Are there any applicable trouble codes? If you fully obd1 compliant, you should be able to check some codes, yourself.
Your cam and crank sensor share ref voltage and ground, I'd want to check that.

We have a 2004 3.5L that does not fire

Usually if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the spark plugs, gasoline engine. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. How long since a tune-up? Are there any applicable trouble codes? Don't crank starter motor more than few seconds at a time, let it cool off a little. Make sure battery has a full charge.
Your make and model didn't post for some reason?

1966 ford pickup 352 motor turns over but acts as if the battery is dieing has new starter battery, cylanoid and wires

Battery may not have enough cranking amps to turn it over. Those old fords need at least 800 cca and to be fully charged. Keep in mind that not all new starters (parts in general) are always good. Make sure nothing else is drawing a bunch of juice from the battery at the same time. Like an aftermarket stereo for instance.

The motor will turn over but will not crank, it cranked just fine yesterday and it has plenty of gas.

you need to check to see if the battery is fully charge and you have spark and you may need to have the crank sensor tested give these websites a try and if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your truck wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

verify condition by spraying some starter fuel in should start and die if its a fuel problem.
if it still does nothing start checking any and all fuses.if all the fuses are good take out a spark plug and verify no spark.
if no spark check the ignition module.
it might be able to have it checked at autozone for free.but you will have to remove it.
