This is likely caused by a engine missfire, this can be due to a failed engine coil, spark plug or fuel injector. Ford has extended warranty on some fuel injectors on the f-150 and expedition you will need to have your local dealer see if you vehicle applies to the recall. Since the check engine lamp is flashing then a code is also stored and will need to be retreived to determine which of the cylinders is missfiring.

Major transmission problem. That's what the flashing Check Engine light means.

If the Check Engine light is on all the time, it means there is a "fault code" stored in the computer. Take it to an auto parts store (like Auto Zone) and ask them to read the codes to see what it says. They should do it for free. If they won't, go to another auto parts store.

If the check engine light is flashing, there is a serious problem that is affecting the performance of the engine.
You need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed.

I have noticed my 2004 Civic vibrates a bit when I first start it and also when the a/c is on and I am not driving. Then the check engine light came on yesterday. Could that be related to the vibrating?...

Vibration in 4 cyl. vehicles is more common than in 6 and 8 cyl. engine vehicles. However, the check engine light might indicate that something is wrong in the ignition or emission system that could cost a significant amount to repair or fix.

I would have the system scanned for the codes to try to find out what exactly is wrong with the engine, whether it is a bad sensor, or bad ignition, or what not.

Today's car computers can detect hundreds of things that are possibly wrong with an engine/ transmission combination.

Check engine light flashing on and off. replaced coilpack. A.S.D. Fuse blew replaced fuse drove home and would not start the next day. fuse blew again. now what? was driving fine before light came on....

recheck your connections on the replacement parts may have a loose connection if good than something loose. going south or shorting out will cause the flashing check engine the flashing means [fault ] something is going to fail or is causing a malfunction and will be going out completely have vehicle scanned at an auto store some such as auto zone/ advanced auto do it for free to code gives you a start point

|||I lost engine power and had a flashing check engine light. Car will idle but will spit when given gas. Also has a very bad miss. When put in gear it spits and dies.

It could be something as simple as a clogged fuel filter, timing could be out...or it could be worse. Check the engine light and count the flashes. This is done by turning the key once...not on...just to the first position. Count the flashes...this is a code. From there you can look up the code on line and possibly determine where the problem is.
If you take it to a garage they can hook it up to a diagnostic machine...I'm thinking you'll have to call a tow truck though...sorry.
Hope this helps to some degree.

Check engine light on

When the check engine light flashes this is a class a misfire. If this is a 1999 you have a spark plug or a spark plug wire bad. Get a tune up done and replace plug wires.
