Question about 1995 Mazda Millenia

I've got a 95 Mazda Millenia that is flashing 7 codes, and will not shift into the highest gear.. could it be electrical.. A sensor codes are Po400 p1521 p1522 po740 po730 p1173 p1170. several days ago, I got into the car after no problems and it would not go into reverse. I added one qt of Fluid, and reverse returned, but now I have no third gear. The car started to run like **** the last few days.

0400 is an EGR issue.
1521 is VRIS Solenoid '1' Circuit
1522 is VRIS Solenoid '2 Circuit
0740 is Torque Converter Clutch Circuit/Open
1173 is HO2S Bank 2 Sensor 1 Circuit Fixed (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
1170 is HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 1 Circuit Fixed (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
You know straight away which codes to ignore and which one is causing the problem when you read them off. If in order, EGR we can ignore. The solenoids will not work with no Torque convertor pressure. Start there.

When you experience this problem, check to see if your brake lights are coming on. It could be as simple as a brake light switch malfunction. If the brake lights are functioning as the problem is occurring then you could for example have a problem with the shift interlock solenoid.

I have a 2002 mazda millenia. It is pulling codes regarding shift sensors. At cruising speeds it feels as if you downshift suddenly or possible like it isn't getting fuel for a moment. We have replaced...


Can't solve, but, had the same problem. Replaced everything the codes indicated. Drove a couple of weeks and the transmission went. Third gear is gone.

Almost $ 2000.00 to chase the codes, now the transmission is going to cost $ 2,700.00 to rebuild.

Take car to a trans. shop before the transmission burns up and the rebuild will be less!!!!

1995 millenia fault codes PO400 and PO 115what has to be done to fix these.


The P0400 has to do with a fault in the EGR (Exhaust Gas recirculation) system. The possible cause is leak or blockage, wiring, EGR Valve or EGR solenoid or the ECM.
P0115 has to do with the ECT (Engine coolant sensor) possible causes for this fault is wiring or the Engine coolant sensor itself or the ECM.
I believe I have the testing for both of these if you need them. Send me your email and I will send you the test procedures if you are familiar with how to use Ohm meter and a vacuum tester.

Mazda Millenia 1997...flashing hold light when driving car...car changes gear like there is no clutch


you mean check engine light flashing??? if so then the engine is skipping and the lack of power putput will cause the trans to change gears constantly. is this the issue you describe?

This is all due to a loose connection somewere. If your car had been worked on check all connector that are not plugged in tightly. Some newer cars even have a special lock lever to the connectors, and if not connected properly you would have all kinds of code poping up.

THE TURBINE SPEED (PART OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROLS) SENSOR IS THE CULPRIT HERE, REPLACE IT.
