In my case, simply removing and reseating the IPC/DIC fuse restored the gauges to full functionality.

SOURCE: instrument cluster blank

Don't throw away the dash yet!!! I had the same problem with my 93 S-10 Blazer. My son in law(who is a computer guru) took a look at and found several loose solder spots. He redid them and it has been working fine ever since. Check around for some one who would take a look at the soldering on the board and I am sure they can fix it right up. Good luck KS

My 2002 Saturn L100 odometer stopped working and isn't clocking miles at all.

The odometer is an electronic digital display. Digits displayed are illuminated by the odometer backlight bulb. The odometer backlight bulb brightness is controlled by class 2 messages from the BCM to adjust the display for daylight and instrument panel dimming operation. The trip odometer and total odometer will show in this display area. The push button in the lower right side of the speedometer is used to toggle between the trip and total odometer readings. To reset the trip odometer, push and hold the button down for at least two seconds. The total odometer display has six digits with no decimal display. The trip odometer has four digits including a decimal point and indicates tenths of a mile or kilometer.
The body control module (BCM) stores the vehicle mileage. If the BCM fails, the cluster will display the last valid mileage that was sent before the BCM failed. For replacement of the BCM refer to the BCM section of this service manual. Replacement instrument clusters do not require odometer pre-setting before installation. If the instrument cluster is replaced, the mileage stored in the BCM will be sent to the new cluster via serial data, and shown in the odometer display.

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

Probably just dealer getting their hands in your pockets for an inspection that is set to a particular mileage amount (like 150,000 miles) ? :)

To know for sure the code get a code scanner. For about the price of an inspection or code read (though some garages will do for free) get you own code reader. :)

How to reset on a VW- ("Volkswagen VW (with digital Odometer) The code on the mileage display when you start the car will read "IN01", "IN02" or similar. To clear this, use the following procedure (this should work on any VW with a digital odometer):

With the key out of the ignition press the odometer reset button and hold it down Turn the ignition on (warning lights come on) wait about 10-15 sec until most or the lights are off (still pressing odometer reset button) Turn ignition off (button still pressed) and remove the key
Release reset button Interval should now be reset. If this is not the case, repeat the above procedure

For your car instructions for reset (IF YOU THINK ITS JUST A $ERVICE CALL PLOY!) Audi A4 & A6 - 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 Turn off the ignition

Press and hold the button on the left side of the display while turning the ignition on - Service OIL will be displayed
Pull out the button on the right side of the display until the service prompt is cleared
The display should now read ----
If the above procedure does not work, below is an alternative procedure:
With the ignition off, push the right button
Turn the ignition on and then pull the left button
Turn off ignition

Kind Regards,

What kind of gas should i use for a 2005 Nissan pathfinder?

Your car can run on "euro regular"(87 octane)15% ethyl
and will self adjust for anything higher than 87,SO, if you put in "the good stuff"you should see an inprovement in gas mileage,BUT,as i tell all my customers, put in 5 tankfulls and log the mileage, then 5 tanks if the other,it may work for you.....

Odometer numbers fade or disappear.

It's time to either have the speedometer rebuilt or replaced. Check your local salvage yards and see if they have one in stock. Be sure to note mileage on and keep the paper work with the car in case you decide you sell or trade in.

Digital mileage display

There is an issue with some MYs that the digital odometer goes blank on the 99-03 MY trucks.

The problem is with cold solder joints on the Instrument cluster.

F150online has a how to in the electrical forum, that shows where to look for the cold solder joints.

If you are hand with taking apart a dash, and using a soldering iron, then it is a bit time consuming, but cheap to fix.

The dealer will want to replace the Instrument cluster, and reprogram the HEC with your keys ( the PATS part ), which would be 600+ to have done.
