I have replaced a non-powered antenna on a 1999 Mercury Villager - I assume they are the same except for the power antenna motor bracket and the wire connector to the antenna motor. U don't mention whether u have a power antenna so these instructions are good for both.

1) Jack up the front passenger size of the car.
2) Remove the tire.
3) You can now remove the wheel-well. There are a set or screws around the wheel, and there are blind expansion pins on the inside. To remove the blind expansion pins push the inner pin through then pry the outer hold-down head off.
4) After removing the wheel-well you will see (or feel) the antenna assembly. There is one bolt that you can now reach that holds the unit in at the bottom. At the top the unit is held to the fender with a large ring that can be unscrewed.

I never figured out how to remove the antenna wire that ran to the antenna, so I stripped the wire and spliced in the wire to the new antenna.

Reverse procedure to re-assemble

Ok first step is to remove the dash console.. It has 2 sceews in the ash tray remove the tray and then reomve the screws and then a few holding the top.. Look under the lip.. After that's out remove your player / radio.. And unjack the antenna from it.. Its like a big jack u can't miss it... Now remove the screws holding the antenna and pull the cable out.. Insert new cable feed it through and then bolt back the new antenna and jack it in.. Re assemble..

Oh.. Its a lock top screw.. Pry the cap off and then unscrew it or onbolt it from undeer the fender.. Prying the cap base off is easier..

How do you replace a broken car antenna mast

depending where the mast is fitted , either roof or side panel , you will need to remove the trims that are directly below the anntena , then unbolt the fitting and trace the route of the wire to the radio , refitting is the reverse

No fm!

This can happen if the Antenna has come unplugged. As the Am does not need the antenna to pick up signal and FM does. =) The back of your stero will have a plug about the size of a pencil that plugs into the wire leading to the anntena. Hope this helps. =)

02 boxater radio won't power on

You may have to re-enter the radio code. Did you have a battery problem or replace the battery. Any time you disconnect the battery, you have to recode the radio.

Auto antenna does not extend

The Auto anntena is driven by an electric motor tucked under the side skin inside the trunk. It is possible that some moisture leaked in and caused the system to blow, usually resulting in a blown fuse. Check the fuse box, the manual will identify the propler fuse position in the fusebox. If thats not the problem, than you'll have to look at the anntena drive motor a little closer.
