No key for my 99' cavalier. 3 dealer cut keys dont work. what to do?

Most likely the switch has been changed in the past, if so the door locks too are often changed so the new key would work all of them, this sort of thing happens when salvage parts are used. Looks like you will have to go to the salvage yard this time write down the V.I.N. number of the salvage vehicle for future reference.

2000 Toyota. Key wont turn in trunk or door locks, but will start the ignition. Help!

I would try a spare key, or get a new key cut at the dealer from the vin code. Cutting a new key from the one you have may duplicate a problem with one of the cuts.

The key gets stuck in the ignition sometimes it turns and other times it doesn't. could it be the transponder?

The first thing to check is to carefully examine the ignition key. If it is worn down, or even slightly bent, get a new key cut. If you don't have a key in good shape to copy from, your Toyota dealer can cut one, if they know your VIN number. If your key looks good, the most likely suspect is your ignition lock cylinder. You can try lubing it with a little graphite lock lube, but no WD-40 or anything!

are all the keys worn?get a key made from the vin # of the car and not a copy.the biggest mistake people make is getting a spare from a worn key.in half the time the key is no good, than in no time the 3rd key is worn out....if the dealer key does not work, change the cylinder

Own a 1992 toyota camry lxe, when key inserted in ignition it wont turn

Very Common And The Fix Is Replacing The Ignition. Sadly Almost All The Older Camry's Have Had To Have An Ignition Change. If You Want The Key To Match The Door You'll Have To Buy From The Dealer Which Is Really Expensive. But If It Doesn't Matter You Can Buy One For About $50 At Autozone And Just Have To Use A Different Key For The Door And Ignition.

1998 Ford Taurus - Keys don't work manually in door

I suspect someone changed the ignition switch and just used the key that came with it instead of having the switch repinned to the existing key. The key for the doors and ignition are the same from the factory.
You should look for the original keys or the plastic card with the key codes on it. The delaer can cut you a key just for the doors with this code. You don't need a key blank with the chip just to open the doors. Or go to the dealer, Ford or Mercury and ask them to get the codes from Ford using your VIN # (17 digit). Or, the sellimg dealer usually keeps them on file. Any dealer can tell you who the selling dealer was by using your VIN #, good luck

Toyota Can Make You An Exact Key Based On Your Vin Number.
If You Go To A Locksmith They either Wont Do It Or Will Charge You An Arm And A Leg.

Ignition

This is a simple fix.  Either the key is worn and you need a new key cut, or your ignition switch is worn and you need to replace it. Personally, I would start with a new key.  Before spending any money, try pulling on the steering wheel a little in both directions while turning the key.  I have seen steering locks prevent the key from turning on older cars.
